Top Stocks To Buy Right Now

Stocks slipped today as the Dow Jones Industrial Average traded in its narrowest single-day range since 2014.

Bloomberg News/Landov

The S&P 500 dropped 0.3% to 2,265.18 today, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 32.66 points, or 0.2% to 19,941.96. The Nasdaq Composite declined 0.2% to 5,471.43.

The Dow traded in a 44.60 point range today, the smallest since Nov. 26, 2014. Has Christmas already started?

With so little news, it’s worth considering other, less, well, newsy things. Like, remember when it was easy to find stocks with dividends higher than the 10-year Treasury note? Not anymore, says Wells Fargo’s Stuart Freeman and Scott Wren. They explain:

A few months ago, more than 200 of the individual companies within the S&P 500 Index had carried dividend yields that exceeded the yield of the 10-year Treasury note. Currently, just over 100 of the 500 S&P 500 Index companies carry dividend yields that exceed the 2.59 percent yield of the 10-year Treasury note. How has this happened? It has resulted from the positive movement in stocks (resulting in lower dividend yields) and the upward move in the 10-year Treasury yield since early July.
