China&a;rsquo;s paramount leader, President Xi, has vowed that stability is his top priority.&a;nbsp; Interestingly, President Xi echoes Karl Schiller, who was the German Finance minister from 1966 until 1972. As Schiller put it, &a;ldquo;Stability is not everything, but without stability, everything is nothing.&a;rdquo;

Well, China, a country that has experimented with different types of exchange-rate regimes, was stable during the 1994-2005 period.&a;nbsp; That&a;rsquo;s when exchange-rate fixity was the order of the day. Indeed, the renminbi was firmly anchored to the U.S. dollar, with little movement in the RMB/USD exchange rate. China&a;rsquo;s growth was stable and strong, and its inflation rate shadowed that of the United States.

Top China Stocks To Watch For 2019: Netease.com Inc.(NTES)

Advisors’ Opinion:

  • [By Harsh Chauhan]

    NetEase (NASDAQ:NTES) has lost its wheels in recent quarters. Massive growth of the low-margin e-commerce business, as well as a slowdown in the video gaming business, has eroded the Chinese internet giant’s earnings power, and the situation was no different last quarter.

  • [By Rick Munarriz]

    Many Chinese growth stocks have started bouncing back, but the same can’t be said about NetEase (NASDAQ:NTES). The Chinese online gaming pioneer hit another 52-week low earlier this month, and it’s trading nearly 30% below the all-time highs it hit late last year.

  • [By Anders Bylund]

    Chinese online media giant NetEase Inc. (NASDAQ:NTES) is hardly the talk of the town. Sporting a $30 billion market cap, NetEase works in a consumer-facing industry, and share prices have bounced between $222 and $378 over the last year. And these are the hallmarks of the market’s most-discussed tickers.

    Investors in NetEase (NASDAQ:NTES) have generally seen their company benefit from a strong environment in the Chinese video game industry. Impressive growth in revenue and profits in past years helped fuel impressive gains for NetEase shares, and the appetite for more from consumers in China and elsewhere has seemed insatiable. Yet in every growth stock’s experience, a company eventually starts to face challenges in sustaining growth, and the key question becomes what that company does to restart its growth engines.

    That expansion can be hard to keep track of, but investors should recognize the five companies which Tencent could hurt: NetEase (NASDAQ:NTES), Weibo (NASDAQ:WB), Baidu (NASDAQ:BIDU), iQiyi (NASDAQ:IQ), and Alibaba (NYSE:BABA).

Top China Stocks To Watch For 2019: Baidu Inc.(BIDU)

Advisors’ Opinion:

  • [By Keith Noonan]

    When iQiyi (NASDAQ:IQ) had its market debut in March after being spun off from Chinese search-engine giant Baidu (NASDAQ:BIDU), the stock stumbled out of the gate. It lost roughly 14% of its value on the first day of trading and briefly derailed some of the excitement surrounding the new streaming and multimedia offshoot. That didn’t last too long, however.

  • [By Leo Sun]

    Shares of Baidu (NASDAQ:BIDU) tumbled 10% on May 18, after the company announced the upcoming departure of COO Qi Lu in July. Prior to joining Baidu in early 2017, Lu served as Microsoft’s executive VP of its Applications and Services Group. As one of the industry’s leading AI experts, Lu played a key role in Baidu’s transition from an online search company to a cloud and AI services provider.
