Top 10 Bank Stocks To Buy Right Now

If saving money were an easy thing to do, many Americans would have much more in the bank than they have today. The sad reality, however, is that 40% of U.S. adults don’t have the cash on hand to cover a $400 emergency.

Without near-term savings, however, you risk racking up debt the moment an unplanned bill falls into your lap. And without long-term savings, you might struggle financially during retirement. So it’s crucial that you ramp up your savings game sooner rather than later. Here are five tricks that’ll help you accomplish that goal.

1. Follow a budget

It’s hard to save money when you have no idea how much you spend on different things. That’s why you need a budget. Setting one up will help you determine how much you spend on everything from housing to transportation to food to entertainment. And from there, you’ll be able to see where there’s room to reduce what you spend.

New York (AP) — Four more deaths have been linked to a national food poisoning outbreak blamed on tainted lettuce, bringing the total to five.

Health officials have tied the E. coli outbreak to romaine lettuce grown in Yuma, Arizona. The growing season there ended six weeks ago, and it's unlikely any tainted lettuce is still in stores or people's homes, given its short shelf life. But there can be a lag in reporting, and reports of illnesses have continued to come in.

Top 10 Bank Stocks To Buy Right Now: Wells Fargo & Company(WFC)

Advisors’ Opinion:

  • [By ]

Wells Fargo & Co. (WFC) hasn’t had a shortage of scandals and embarrassment over the past few years. It’s resulted in management changes, $1 billion fees and punishments from the Federal Reserve.

So where do you find them? Well, preferred stocks trade just like common shares on one of the major stock exchanges. They are a popular fundraising tool for companies that need capital to grow and expand, but don’t want to borrow or issue more common stock. Well-known businesses like Ford Motor (NYSE: F), General Electric (NYSE: GE), Wells Fargo (NYSE: WFC) and T-Mobile (Nasdaq: TMUS) have all issued preferred stock.

A great recent example of this can be seen in the 2017 annual report of major Berkshire Hathaway stock holding Wells Fargo (NYSE:WFC). Instead of glossing over the company’s infamous fake-accounts and other scandals and simply focusing on the good parts of the business, CEO Tim Sloan made the company’s problems and detailed discussions of the planned and implemented solutions the central focus of his letter. And, Sloan acknowledged that “we still have work to do.”

  • [By ]

Men led Wells Fargo & Co. (WFC) into the biggest corporate debacle of the U.S. bank’s 166-year history. Now, women are taking over.

Over the past two years, the San Francisco-based bank has been pressured by regulators and shareholders to overhaul its board of directors following a series of scandals that have collectively cost the bank at least $1.6 billion, sending its stock price plunging.

Today, our Motley Fool investors will highlight three stocks that fit that description — J.C. Penney (NYSE:JCP), Wells Fargo (NYSE:WFC), and Calavo Growers (NASDAQ:CVGW).

The prospect of big bank deregulation in light of the outrageous ongoing criminal activity – because that’s what it is – at Wells Fargo & Co. (NYSE: WFC) makes me cringe.
