Coca-Cola Bottling Co. (NYSE: COKE) had a revenue increase to $2.3 billion in its most recentfiscal year, from $1.7 billion in the previous one. It is moving into Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky, Illinois and West Virginia, which almost certainly will require capital. Its net sales rose 37% in the most recent quarter to $840 million. Management stated this was because of “Organic growth in the legacy territories as well as territory expansion through the acquisition of several new distribution territories from Coca-Cola led to the solid performance.” The current dividend is $1, or 0.66%.

foreign investment: Duke Energy Corporation(DUK)

Advisors’ Opinion:

  • [By WWW.KIPLINGER.COM]

Duke Energy Corp. (DUK), the largest generator of electricity in the nation, is awfully steady.

DUK has more than 7.4 million customers located in hotbeds of growth, and it boasts a generating capacity of 52,697 megawatts. The firm also provides natural gas distribution in many of its main service areas, so Duke is a double threat in that way. Cold winter? Nat gas provides more oomph. Hot summer? Electricity demand spikes.

A long-haired princess, a video game villain, an ice queen, a pillowy robot, cosmopolitan critters, and now a demi-god.

That’s the trajectory of the current Disney Animation renaissance, which is likely to add another success to a string of them this weekend with “Moana.”

A musical that stars newcomer Auli’i Cravalho as the titular Polynesian princess and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson as the demigod Maui, “Moana” is projected for a five day holiday weekend opening in the range of $80 million to $85 million, according to box office analysts. The film is off to a good start making $2.6 million in Tuesday night showings.

Those projections would put it in play to be one of the biggest Thanksgiving holiday openings of all time.

Disney itself is being a bit more modest, putting its forecast closer to $70 million. But the House of Mouse may just be trying to downplay expectations. The truth is there are plenty of reasons to think that the film could pull in larger-than-expected ticket sales this weekend.

Another illustration of the excellent project structuring skills that First Sponsor’s management possesses relates to the divestment of a 70% interest in its property development project in China, the Star of East River project in Dongguan to Chinese property developer China Vanke (OTC:CVKEY) in FY2016. It recorded a disposal gain of S$97.3 million in 4QFY2016 and recouped its capital investment in its entirety with a surplus cash return of approximately S$23.2 million. Best Blue Chip Stocks To Buy For 2018

Wall Street on Monday didn’t just cash in on one winner, or a daily double, or even a trifecta. It notched astock market-style superfecta, with all four major U.S. stock indexes — representing blue chip names, technology stocks, small caps and large-company stocks — all closing at record highs on the same day for the first time in 17years.

The post-election rallybegan two weeks ago with so-called “Red Stocks” ripping higher after Republican Donald Trump’s surprise win on Nov. 8. The rally, which has been fueled by hopes that the president-elect’s growth-friendly policies will finallyjolt the U.S. economy out of its multi-year doldrums, has spreadto virtually every corner of the stock market.

All-time highs were in abundance tostart the week: Blue chips in the Dow Jones industrial average closed up 89 points to a record 18,956.69, extending its 2016 gain to nearly 9%.The benchmark Standard & Poor’s 500 finished 0.8% higher at 2198.18, its highest close ever. The tech-packed Nasdaq composite rallied 0.9% to a record 5368.86. And the Russell 2000, a stock index filled with the market’s smallest companies, extendedits winning streak to 12 sessions on its way to an all time record close of 1322.23 and a 16.4% gain for the year. That is the Russell 2000’s longest winning streak since June 2003.

Gains are being seen elsewhere as well, except in shares of The Mosaic Company (NYSE: MOS). AgriumInc. (NYSE: AGU) was up almost 3% at $91.95 in late Monday trading, although this one held up much better in the destructive news phase when the alarming news roiled these stocks. The big winner is Intrepid Potash, Inc. (NYSE: IPI), with a gain of 7% to $16.20 in late-Monday trading.

The agriculture ETF is heavily weighted toward the U.S., with 45.8% of its assets there, but it is geographically diverse, with exposure to countries such as Canada (9.9%), Switzerland (8.5%), Japan (6.7%) and Singapore (5.1%).

Potash Cartel Breakup Has Weighed on This Agriculture ETF

The ETF’s unit price declined in the first half of 2013, partly because of the breakup of the Belarusian Potash Company (BPC), through which Russia’s Uralkali, the world’s No. 1 potash producer, and Belaruskali of Belarus distribute their potash. The market is dominated by BPC and Canpotex, owned by Potash Corp. of Saskatchewan (NYSE: POT), Mosaic and Agrium Inc. (NYSE: AGU).

Together, the two cartels control 70% of global potash exports, so the breakup of BPC will result in a more fractured market, which seems likely to push potash prices lower. Shares of major potash producers fell sharply on the news, as did Market Vectors Agribusiness ETF due to its potash stock holdings, which include Agrium, Potash Corp. and Mosaic.

Credit Suisse Maintains Apple Stock At ‘Outperform’ Citing Strong iPhone Sales

Apple (NSDQ:AAPL) could be heading for a solid finish to the year. This will be in stark contrast to the first 9 months of 2016, which included Apple’s three consecutive quarters of revenue and top line decline. The muted performance of Cupertino has taken a toll on AAPL stock, which is up 4.5% for the year, underperforming both the Nasdaq Composite (INDX:COMPX), which has gained 6.5%, as well as the S&P 500 (INDX:SPAL) which is up 8.2% in the same period. However, Apple now seems to be on track to return to growth in the holiday quarter with its iPhone segment leading the charge.

According to the American Far Bureau, a 16-pound turkey will (on average) come in at a total of $22.74 this year or roughly $1.42 per pound for a decrease of 2 cents per pound or a total of 30 cents per whole turkey, compared to 2015. Rumors are also abound that the Oracle of Omaha backed Kraft Heinz (NSDQ:KHC), which is Berkshire Hathaways largest stock position, could make a bid for snack giant Mondelez International (NSDQ:MDLZ)valued at almost $65 billion, although these might just be rumors since Buffett himself ruled out the possibility of a Mondelez deal in mid-2015.

The Kraft Heinz Company (NASDAQ:KHC) made headlines Friday morning after it announced a proposed $143 billion merger with Unilever in what would potentially be one of the biggest deals in history. Unfortunately, at least for now, the latter has declined, as it doesn’t see strategic or financial merit at this time. But surely Kraft has no plans to give up on this match made in heaven that could place key parts of your fridge under one company umbrella. Canadian gold mining company NovaGold Resources Inc. (NYSE: NG) shows an even starker change in sentiment. In the last 12 months, the volume of short bets on the stock declined 79%, to 522,400.

  • [By James E. Brumley]

When an investor thinks of Canadian gold mining stocks, NovaGold Resources Inc. (USA) (NYSEMKT:NG) and Yamana Gold Inc. (USA) (NYSE:AUY) are often the first names to come to mind. And well they should. Yamana Gold is a $2.5 billion giant, and NovaGold Resources seems to have been around forever.

Those two icons aren’t the only way to tap into Canada’s sizeable gold mining industry though. There’s a small, up-and-coming player called Taranis Resources Inc. (OTCMKTS:TNREF, TSX:TRO) that could end up becoming another key fixture of the country’s mining landscape.

Taranis develops mineral deposits into mine-ready projects. Its primary project right now — and it’s enough to keep the company plenty busy for the next several years — is the Thor property located near Trout Lake, British Columbia. NI 43-101 resource reports (indicated and inferred)suggest Thor contains 6.9 million ounces of silver, 35,000 ounces gold, 57 million pounds of lead, 79.4 million pounds of zinc and 3.3 Million pounds of copper (roughly a 14 million ounce silver equivalent (“AgEq”) deposit*) laying in wait in a way that lends itself to the establishment of a low-cost, open pit mining operation. That’s roughly $300 million worth of marketable metals, and the estimates have been steadily getting bigger as Tanaris does more survey work.

And 2017 could be a real breakout year for Taranis, as a lot of the work that’s been done to date starts to mean something. It’s got big exploration plans for this year… this spring/summer to be exact.

The Phase 1 program was completed in September of last year, setting the stage for a more defined and much bigger Phase 2 definition-drilling within the next several weeks. This Phase 2 definition drilling slated for the middle of this year will drill down to between 6000 m and 10,000 m.

After months of declining sales, Volkswagen is expected to post a sales gain of 5.5% to 47,500 units compared with November of last year. The diesel emissions scandal broke in September last year and VW withdrew its diesel-powered cars from the U.S. market causing unit sales to drop sharply over the next several months. That sales are rising again should be no big surprise because the bar has been set so low. Still, it is good news for the German automaker.

Among the Detroit Three the outlook is decidedly mixed. According to researchers at Kelley Blue Book (KBB), General Motors Co. (NYSE: GM) is forecast to sell 249,000 units, up 8.6% compared with November of 2015. GM’s U.S. market share is expected to reach 18.2%, up 0.7 percentage point year over year. Ford Motor Co. (NYSE: F) is touted to post a sales gain of just 0.1% with 189,000 units for a market share of 13.6%, down 0.6 point year over year. Fiat Chrysler Automobiles NV (NYSE: FCAU) is forecast to see unit sales drop 4.5% year over year to 168,000 and a market share of 12.3%, down 1.1 percentage points.

Analysts at Jefferies initiated coverage on business process services provider Maximus Inc. (MMS) late on Thursday, giving the stock a bullish rating because it has several competitive advantages and should benefit from the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare).

The analysts rate MMS as “Buy” and see shares reaching $47. This price target suggests a 20% upside to the stock’s Thursday closing price of $39.14.

“MMS is a leading government outsourced contractor that produces consistently strong results,” Jefferies analyst David Styblo commented. “The company has several competitive advantages and is highly focused on health and human service projects. This positions MMS to enjoy multi-year growth from the ACA and other opportunities with limited risk. The company’s predictable business model, solid balance sheet, and EPS visibility into FY2014 also support a Buy and $47 PT.”
