Public distributed ledgers like the blockchain supporting bitcoin have drawbacks that make them unsuitable for financial firms’ needs, according to analysts from Corporate Insight. The research firm hosted a webinar on Tuesday outlining the findings of a report released in February detailing how private distributed ledgers could be adopted by financial services firms.

For one, according to Jen Butler, an analyst at Corporate Insight, public ledgers are typically anonymous, which makes it harder for firms to satisfy know-your-customer and anti-money laundering regulations.

For many, the New Year means new technology being implemented at the practice. One of the biggest challenges facing advisory firms today is getting the team on board with these new programs. Improper planning, skepticism and lack of commitment are just some of the factors that often plague such projects from the start. Without buy-in and adoption, firms cannot realize the full benefits of technology designed to increase efficiency and productivity.

Jefferies announced on Wednesday that it has cut its rating on Tanger Factory Outlet Centers Inc. (SKT).

The firm has downgraded SKT from “Buy” to “Hold,” and has lowered the company’s price target from $40 to $35. This price target suggests an 8% upside from the stock’s current price of $32.22.

Analyst Omotayo Okusanya commented: “We expect near-term headwinds for the mall and outlet mall segment as tenant sales growth appears to be slowing.”

“At SKT, development yields on two projects have also been reduced. Further, rising interest rates negatively impact our DDM-derived PT. Our lowered PT of $35 represents a 10% total return over the next-twelve-months (NTM); we are downgrading to Hold,” added the analyst.

Tanger Factory Outlet shares were mostly flat during pre-market trading Wednesday. The stock is up more than 5% YTD.

Bitcoin futures trading started at the CBOE Global Markets Inc. (Nasdaq: CBOE) on Dec. 10 and on the much larger CME Group Inc. (Nasdaq: CME) on Dec. 18. Nasdaq Inc. (Nasdaq: NDAQ) plans to begin trading Bitcoin futures in the first half of next year.

Market Exchanges like the CME Group (Nasdaq: CME) have just started allowing trading in bitcoin futures and could attract an entirely new type of retail user as well as allowing institutional clients access to the bitcoin theme. Exchanges make their money on transactional volume, so a bursting of the bitcoin bubble wouldn’t necessarily mean weakness for shares.

Abramowitz calls the company “a turnaround story that is now at an inflection point.” Changes that a new management team put into effect in 2012 should start bearing fruit. stock market day trading: LinkedIn Corporation(LNKD)

Advisors’ Opinion:

  • [By Andres Cardenal]

The most powerful investment ideas are the ones that can be easily explained and understood. LinkedIn(LNKD) is an undisputed market leader in remarkably promising areas such as professional networking and online employment opportunities, and this makes the company a top name to buy in 2016 and hold for years to come.

As of the third quarter of 2015, LinkedIn(LNKD) had 396 million registered members around the world, a big increase of 20% versus the same quarter the previous year, and 39,726 corporate solutions customers on the platform, a year-over-year increase of 31%. Individuals and corporations attract each other to LinkedIn in search of opportunities, and this creates a virtuous cycle driving sustainable growth over the long term.

Management is also translating the company’s massive opportunities into rapid revenue growth. Total sales grew 37% to $780 million last quarter, with the acquisition of online learning platform lynda.com representing $41 million of that. LinkedIn’s three growth engines are firing on all cylinders: Talent solutions for corporations grew 46%, while premium subscription sales increased 21%, and online advertising revenue jumped 28%.

LinkedIn(LNKD) is actively investing for growth, so profit margins are hard to predict in the short term. However, the company should be able to combine solid revenue growth and expanding profit margins in the years ahead.

  • [By Alex McGuire]

For example, LinkedIn Corp. (NYSE: LNKD) fell 16.1% to $79.03 from its IPO date on May 19, 2011, to Aug. 19, 2011. But LNKD stock has since recovered 148% to today’s share price of $195.96.

Top 5 Financial Stocks To Invest In Right Now

By Antoine Gara, Corinne Jurney and Nathan Vardi

From the rise of quantitative trading driven by data to new financial technologies and start-ups, the Wall Street landscape is shifting. The faces of change on Wall Street can be found on this year’s 30 Under 30 Finance list.

The rising stars of Wall Street are building quant apps for clients at Goldman Sachs, making investments based on sustainability themes at Morgan Stanley, and creating data-driven trading models at BlackRock. They are partners at big hedge fund firms like Tiger Global Management and Pershing Square Capital Management, and work for hedge fund legends like billionaire Stanley Druckenmiller.

Young entrepreneurs are shaking-up the financial services sector. Matthew Humphrey, 29, is a serial entrepreneur who has already sold a business for $100 million at age 24. He is currently the CEO and founder of LendingHome, which has raised more than $100 million in venture capital funds and lent out nearly $1 billion. Humphrey’s company, which has 240 employees, uses proprietary risk scores to extend credit to non-traditional borrowers who have already repaid $400 million of principal with virtually no realized losses. Humphrey matriculated to Carnegie Mellon to study computer science at the age of 13.
