    Noble Energygained 7.1% to $40.05, while the S&P 500 fell 0.3% to2,267.89.

Wunderlich’s Irene Haas explains why she’s a fan of the deal:

Noble Energy (NBL) has agreed to acquire Clayton Williams Energy Inc. (CWEI-$103.98, Hold) for $3.4 billion. The transaction has been approved by both boards and should close during 2Q17. NBL will gain 71,000 net acres in Reeves County, production of 10,000 boepd, and 2,400 gross locations (with 8,000 lateral length) in the Wolfcamp, with net un-risked resource potential of over 1 billion boe. Netting out production, acreage outside of Reeves County, and midstream assets, NBL valued the Reeves County acreage at~$32,000 per net acre. Advisors’ Opinion:

  • [By Laurie Kulikowski]

We rate AT&T INC as a Buy with a ratings score of B-. This is driven by several positive factors, which we believe should have a greater impact than any weaknesses, and should give investors a better performance opportunity than most stocks we cover. The company’s strengths can be seen in multiple areas, such as its revenue growth, good cash flow from operations, expanding profit margins and solid stock price performance. We feel its strengths outweigh the fact that the company has had somewhat disappointing return on equity.

It was just a little more than a year ago when Comcast (NASDAQ:CMCSA) was the largest U.S. pay-TV provider. And it wasn’t even close. But after AT&T (NYSE:T) merged with DirecTV, it took over the top spot. Now, AT&T’s rival telecom company, Verizon (NYSE:VZ), is reportedly considering a megamerger of its own with Charter Communications (NASDAQ:CHTR). The move would put the combined company’s total video subscriber count very close to Comcast’s.

The potential merger points to a big hole in Comcast’s service offerings — its lack of wireless service. If customers can save money by bundling their TV, internet, and wireless bills together with its competitors, Comcast stands to lose customers. But Comcast’s management and investors shouldn’t lose sleep over the possibility that its two biggest competitors offer wireless service.

We are Neutral on PCAR as the company faces the risk of both lower volume and margin pressure from declining demand in its core NA HD truck business in 2016. However, we believe PCAR should command a premium valuation due to its track record of solid execution. In addition, PCAR pays out a normal and a special dividend which, in total, should equal ~50% of net income and currently offers a yield of 4.1% (JPMe total payout of ~$2.12/share) making it potentially attractive to income-oriented investors.

  • [By Jim Cramer]

Despite the weak revenue results, PCAR has outperformed against the industry average of 21.6%. Since the same quarter one year prior, revenues slightly dropped by 1.6%. The declining revenue has not hurt the company’s bottom line, with increasing earnings per share.

Top Warren Buffett Stocks To Buy Right Now: Uni-Pixel, Inc.(UNXL)

Advisors’ Opinion:

  • [By Peter Graham]

Small cap sensor film stockUniPixel Inc (NASDAQ: UNXL) reportedQ1 2017 earnings after the Thursday market close withshares falling both on Thursday and in afterhours trading. UniPixel is not well covered or known by analysts yet and this can make shares volatile. However and last September, we had suggested a long position in the stock based upon technicals by saying:

  • [By Lisa Levin]

Shares of UniPixel Inc (NASDAQ: UNXL) were down 22 percent to $1.63 after the company announced a public offering of newly issued shares of stock. UniPixel plans to offer 5.35 million shares of its own stock at a public offering price of $1.50 per share with the option for its underwriters to purchase up to an additional 802,500 shares.

  • [By Peter Graham]

Small cap sensor film stock UniPixel Inc (NASDAQ: UNXL) is sinking by a double digit percentage in after-hours and pre-market trading after reporting Q4 earnings. The problem for UniPixel is that only a few analysts cover the small cap stock and the bottom line loss was a bit worst than the 10 cent loss they were expecting. The stock also had a slight uptick ahead of earnings:

  • [By Roberto Pedone]

Uni-Pixel (UNXL) manufactures electronic film products using its proprietary manufacturing process, UniBoss. This stock closed up 7.6% to $16.84 in Monday’s trading session.

    Monday’s Volume: 1.88 million

    Three-Month Average Volume: 1 million

    Volume % Change: 108%

From a technical perspective, UNXL bounced sharply higher here right off its 50-day moving average of $15.89 with above-average volume. This stock looks to be forming a double bottom chart pattern at $14.91 to $15.16. If that bottom holds, then shares of UNXL could see a continuation of Monday’s upside action.

Traders should now look for long-biased trades in UNXL as long as it’s trending above $15.16 or $14.91 and then once it sustains a move or close above Monday’s high of $17.53 with volume that hits near or above 1 million shares. If we get that move soon, then UNXL will set up to re-test or possibly take out its next major overhead resistance level at its 200-day moving average of $19.89.

I have something important that I need to share…   Today, I'm going to share details of the strategy I learned 25 years ago at Goldman Sachs. It's the strategy I've used my entire career – decades long, now – to earn safe, steady income for myself and my readers.   But I know without a doubt that the bulk of you won't read past the next sentence… It's simply the way the world works.   That's because this entire essay will focus on options.   If you have a well-allocated portfolio and you're happy with your investment returns, learning how to use options may not be a priority for you. That's OK. I get it – I do.   But… you'll miss out on an easy investing lesson.   Other folks will want to read on. Because if you'd like to earn higher returns in the years ahead, options will help you do that. More important, options will actually help you reduce the risks of investing in the stock market.

“Efficient market” proponents are wrong – you can bank returns of 10%, 12% or more from stocks regularly.

But you need to ignore common Wall Street “wisdom” and follow a simple 3-step formula that I’ll outline for you in a moment.

Most individual investors don’t make anything close to 10% per year because they practice “buy and hope” investing. They pick up shares and root for them to appreciate in price. With no specific plan outlining how they are going to profit from their stocks, they are doomed.

Even “tangible” fundamental drivers like higher sales or profits are no guarantee that you will profit. Ever been frustrated when one of your stocks trended lower after a good earnings report? If so, you may have complained…

Look out ManpowerGroup Inc. (NYSE:MAN). And Robert Half International Inc. (NYSE:RHI)? You may want to look over your shoulder as well. A young-and-hungry staffing solutions competitor named Staffing 360 Solutions Inc (NASDAQ:STAF) is coming on strong, and just proved it again today. Some of its preliminary fiscal Q2 numbers were reported today, and they extend what’s become a long-term growth streak.

The definition of a roll-up isn’t a hard and fast one, though even the broad brush strokes paint a pretty clear picture. Investopedia defines a roll-up (also known as a “roll up” or a “rollup”) a merger that occurs when investors (often private equity firms) buy up companies in the same market and merge them together. Roll-ups combine multiple small companies into something bigger and better to be able to enjoy economies of scale. Private equity firms use roll-ups to rationalize competition in crowded and/or fragmented markets and to combine companies with complementary capabilities into a full-service business.

It’s also the kind of strategy Staffing 360 Solutions is executing, with great success. For the fiscal quarter ending in November, Staffing 360 Solutions has pre-reported revenue of $47 million, and a gross profit of $8.1 million. Those figures are up 14% and 8%, respectively, year-over-year.

  • [By ]

    2. Staffing firms could do well as employees look to other options if their employers won’t raise rates along with the trend. Firms like Robert Half International (NYSE: RHI) and ManpowerGroup (NYSE: MAN) would also benefit from higher wages through the fees the companies collect when they place an employee contract.

  • [By Bryan Murphy]

Staffing agencies like Robert Half International Inc. (NYSE:RHI) and ManpowerGroup Inc. (NYSE:MAN) may want to look over their shoulder. Though both are bigger and more established, their size and the waning need for physical, human workers in an increasingly-digital and roboticized world ultimately works against both organizations. That paradigm shift doesn’t matter much to a young, up-coming-staffing agency called Staffing 360 Solutions Inc (NASDAQ:STAF) though. Indeed, the trend of computer-based everything leaves Staffing 360 Solutions in the proverbial cat-bird’s seat. Its fiscal Q2 numbers verify the company is in the right place at the right time.

Those numbers? Revenue of $47.1 million was up 14%, and gross profits of $8.1 million were higher by 8.4% on a year-over-year basis. Moreover, the net loss of $1.5 million was a marked improvement on the year-ago loss of $3.5 million, and the EBITDA of $1.4 million was about the same. Operating expenses fell from 22% of revenue a year earlier to only 17% last quarter, with more such progress on the way.

Perhaps most important, Staffing 360 Solutions saw organic growth of 7%, meaning the top line bumped up by that much not because of acquisitions, but because it’s existing divisions expanded their client base and billings by 7%.

And last quarter’s progress has been the norm for several quarters now.

While STAF is proving outpacing the growth from bigger names like ManpowerGroup and Robert Half International, it can’t come as a complete surprise. Staffing 360 Solutions is focused on the IT sliver of the staffing industry, connecting companies with the technology-skilled programmers, cybersecurity specialists, and computer networking personnel modern organizations increasingly need.

There are several data nuggets that point in the same direction, but perhaps none as telling as a recent conclusion from technology research outfit IDC speaks volumes. IDC believes that by the

Since the name BofI stands for “Bank of Internet,” one thing that obviously makes the bank unique is its online-only business model. However, there are a lot of less-obvious things about BofI Holding that you might find interesting.

    3. BofI Holding (NASDAQ:BOFI) is a more speculative choice, but one that deserves serious consideration. The bank, whose name stands for “Bank of Internet”, is the oldest internet-only bank in the U.S. By maintaining an online-based business model, the bank enjoys competitive advantage such as low overhead and the ability to offer better rates on loan and deposit products than peers.

Top Tech Stocks For 2018: Duke Energy Corporation(DUK)

Advisors’ Opinion:

  • [By WWW.KIPLINGER.COM]

Duke Energy Corp. (DUK), the largest generator of electricity in the nation, is awfully steady.

DUK has more than 7.4 million customers located in hotbeds of growth, and it boasts a generating capacity of 52,697 megawatts. The firm also provides natural gas distribution in many of its main service areas, so Duke is a double threat in that way. Cold winter? Nat gas provides more oomph. Hot summer? Electricity demand spikes.

Wells Fargo’s Bonnie Herzog and team argue that Starbucks’ (SBUX) partnership withAnheuser-Busch InBev (BUD) to bottle and sell tea will “transform the tea market much like Starbucks did with coffee.” They explain:

Zuma Press

StarbucksTo Enter Fast Growing, Premium Ready-to-Drink (RTD) Category withAnheuser Busch Inbev Partnership Starbucks announced late yesterday that it expects to finalize a definitive agreement with Anheuser-Busch by 2H16 to jointly produce, bottle, distribute and market the first RTD version of Teavana in the U.S. with an initial launch expected in the 1H17. We view this as a significant opportunity forStarbucks to extend its reach into one of the fastest growing RTD segments, the premium RTD tea category, which while a small part of the $125B global tea industry, is growing in the mid-teens with annual sales at $1.1B. GivenStarbucks’ expertise in teas and the sheer reach of Anheuser-Buschs distribution network, we estimateStarbucks could take ~25-30% share of the RTD premium tea segment within the first full year (FY18E), driving an incremental $200-250M in revenue and approximately $0.03-0.04 of EPS, or ~1-2% of incremental growth. Bottom line We believeAnheuser-Busch will make an exceptional DSD partner that will expand a valuable route-to-market forStarbucks and transform the tea market much likeStarbucks did with coffee.

stock quotes today: Cabot Oil & Gas Corporation(COG)

Advisors’ Opinion:

  • [By David Sterman]

Take Cabot Oil & Gas (NYSE: COG(link is external)) as an example. As I noted earlier this month(link is external), Cabot’s current drilling plans are expected to lead to a big spike in output over the next few years. The company’s executives decided to plow ahead with development plans, even as rivals were retrenching. The fact that natural gas prices have risen more than 10% in the past three weeks simply underscores the wisdom of that strategy, and could lead to rising sales and profit estimates.

stock quotes today: PHI, Inc.(PHIIK)

Advisors’ Opinion:

  • [By Jim Robertson]

On Thursday, our Under the Radar Moversnewsletter suggested shorting small cap offshore oil and gas services stock PHI Inc (NASDAQ: PHIIK):

We’re a little bit late to the party here, but that’s ok – there’s still some meat left on the bone, so to speak. Were looking for the stock to continue on to the lower edge of a long-term (and bearish) trading range that should allow it to peel back to at least the lower $12’s. We’ve see PHIIK shares tumble with great speed and distance a couple of times already, and we’re about halfway through round three.
