Top 10 Warren Buffett Stocks To Watch Right Now

I really have an active dislike for the term “blue-chip stock.”

Plain and simple: the term is outdated. A lot of large-cap familiar names are still called “blue-chip stock” when they are nothing of the kind. If you can’t rid the term “blue-chip stock” from your lexicon, then it should at least apply to a whole new stream of companies.

“Blue-chip stock” used to refer to companies that were constantly growing earnings in the high single-digits or more in terms of percentage, had a fortress balance sheet and were constantly innovating. The seven stocks I’m about to talk about have either none of these traits or, at best, have a really solid balance sheet.

Top 10 Warren Buffett Stocks To Watch Right Now: Energy Transfer Equity, L.P.(ETE)

Advisors’ Opinion:

  • [By Matthew DiLallo]

On the surface, Energy Transfer Partners’ ultra-high-yielding payout looks like it’s on solid ground. During the first quarter of 2018, the company covered it with cash flow by a comfortable 1.1 times after adjusting for the support provided by parent company Energy Transfer Equity (NYSE:ETE), which has temporarily reduced its management fees to help its MLP fund a large slate of expansion projects. That’s a noticeable improvement from the year-ago quarter when Energy Transfer Partners would have paid out all its cash flow, and then some, if it weren’t for the assistance of Energy Transfer Equity.

  • [By Matthew DiLallo]

Midstream giant Energy Transfer Equity (NYSE:ETE) has been excruciatingly volatile over the past few years. At one point, units of the master limited partnership (MLP) lost more than 80% of their value, and they are currently about 50% below their peak. While the volatility has moderated somewhat this year — with units flat overall — they’ve still been all over the map, up almost 10% at one point before plunging double-digits and then recovering.

Top 10 Warren Buffett Stocks To Watch Right Now: Teladoc, Inc.(TDOC)

Advisors’ Opinion:

  • [By Todd Campbell]

Absent a groundswell in medical school enrollment, new models of healthcare delivery — such as telehealth — may be the only way to maintain quality of care while also increasing patient access meaningfully enough to bend the cost curve. Telehealth solutions, such as those offered by Teladoc (NYSE:TDOC), can reduce supply bottlenecks by filling empty slots in schedules and offering access outside of traditional doctor’s office hours. It frees doctors up to see more patients by reducing administrative burdens, including billing, and because telehealth doctors don’t need office space to see patients, it may provide a new, less-costly business model for providers, as well.

Shares topped $114 after the firm’s report came in line with Wall Street earnings expectations of $1.49. (NYSE: BRK.A) bought a large stake in cyber giant Red Hat Inc. (NYSE: RHT). The firm cut its holdings in Apple Inc. (NASDAQ: AAPL) and completely sold off its position in Oracle Corp. (NYSE: ORCL). TrueCar Inc. (NASDAQ: TRUE) shares plunged more than 17% after the company fell well short of earnings and revenue expectations after the bell yesterday. Revenue of $91.1 million missed consensus expectations of $95.7 million. Ongoing weakness in the auto industry and global macroeconomic factors are hurting TrueCar and its competitors. The price of wine is going up.

Global wine production slumped to its lowest level in 60 years in 2017, according to data from the International Organisation of Vine and Wine.

The most recent harvest produced 25 billion liters of wine, a decrease from 26.7 billion in 2016 and 27.6 billion in 2015. The decline was driven by weak harvests in key markets including Europe and South Africa.

The shortage has caused the wholesale price of basic wine in Italy to skyrocket 74% over the previous year, according to the European Commission. Prices are up 45% in Spain and over 10% in France.

Analysts said that producers, dealers and retailers will absorb some of the price hikes, but consumers will end up paying more — especially for cheaper bottles.

“The wine companies that are targeting very low prices … will be hit the worst, because their margins are very low,” said Stephen Rannekleiv, a global beverages strategist at Rabobank. “When prices go up, it puts a lot of strain on them.”

Best Blue Chip Stocks To Own Right Now: Helios and Matheson Analytics Inc(HMNY)

Advisors’ Opinion:

  • [By Evan Niu, CFA]

Amazon.com’s (NASDAQ:AMZN) ongoing foray into the physical world shows no signs of slowing down. The Whole Foods acquisition was clearly the biggest move thus far, but the e-commerce behemoth is now reportedly considering getting into the movie theater business. That age-old business does seem ripe for disruption in some ways, and companies like Helios and Matheson Analytics’ (NASDAQ:HMNY) majority-owned MoviePass are trying their darnedest to shake things up. But MoviePass is failing spectacularly, hemorrhaging cash and losing approximately $35 on each of its 3 million members in the second quarter.

Helios and Matheson Analytics (NASDAQ:HMNY) — owner of the MoviePass all-you-can-watch movie subscription service — is seeing its stock tumble yet again on Thursday. At only 3 p.m. EDT, with still an hour to go in the trading day, Helios stock was already down 28.1%.

Although that’s nowhere near the millions of subscribers attracted when Helios and Matheson Analytics’ (NASDAQ:HMNY) MoviePass service first let moviegoers see an unlimited number of films for just $10 a month, AMC Entertainment has created a much more sustainable model.

Not only is Marathon Petroleum Corp. (NYSE: MPC) the newest member of the Franchise List, but it is a returning member. Also, the company has begunof the long process of completing a massive purchase of another refining giant. In the spirit of Lynch’s investment principles, we asked three of our Motley Fool investors to each highlight a stock Wall Street isn’t paying much attention to, but could be a great investment. Here’s a brief look at their selections: WD-40 Company (NASDAQ:WDFC), Control4 (NASDAQ:CTRL), and VSE Corporation (NASDAQ:VSEC).

  • [By Logan Wallace]

WD-40 (NASDAQ:WDFC) Director Daniel E. Pittard bought 530 shares of WD-40 stock in a transaction on Thursday, May 10th. The shares were purchased at an average cost of $132.65 per share, for a total transaction of $70,304.50. The purchase was disclosed in a filing with the SEC, which is available at the SEC website.

  • [By Tyler Crowe]

The message you get when you read through an investor presentation deck for the WD-40 Company (NASDAQ:WDFC) is growth. The North Star for management is to grow its revenue to $700 million annually by 2025 while maintaining its current margins. So when looking at the company’s earnings reports, the first thing that any investor is going to look at is the revenue growth rate.

  • [By Maxx Chatsko]

Investors that have taken a long-term, buy-and-hold approach to wealth-building might not dispute that claim. Owning a stock for years — or decades — makes future dividend yields higher, future share growth more powerful, and provides peace of mind compared to the more frenzied buying and selling that seems to dominate investing today. Even better, there’s never a bad time to start. Those looking for top stocks of the next decade might want to take a closer look at oil driller EOG Resources (NYSE:EOG), maintenance products specialist WD-40 Company (NASDAQ:WDFC), and home water technology leader A.O. Top Low Price Stocks To Watch For 2019

Retirement investors want sure things. There isnt enough time to make up for stocks that just fall into the ground, never to return. So considering how awful energy has been for the past couple of years, its probably surprising to see energy stocks and retirement mentioned in the same vicinity.

Sustained low oil and natural gas prices have negatively impacted energy stocks. OK, thats putting it mildly. Low prices have outright strangled some companies right out of business, and has made life miserable for the vast majority of the sector.

And considering many retirement investors were sucked in by the plentiful dividends in the energy sector, they know the pain. And theyre probably not too forgiving.
