Noble currently plans to invest about $2.8 billion per year through 2020 to grow its production, with 80% of that spending targeted to boost output from its U.S. shale plays, mainly in the Delaware and DJ Basins.

Yet along with those gains has come continued volatility, and even among the biggest companies in the market, some have faced substantial setbacks that have caused their shares to fall 15% or more in August. However, the region has been growing so fast that oil producers are on pace to exceed its pipeline capacity in a matter of months. While several new lines are under development, drillers have already started slowing down. ConocoPhillips (NYSE:COP) and Noble Energy (NYSE:NBL) were among several producers that recently announced plans to reallocate some of their drilling activities to other regions. In ConocoPhillips’ case, it plans to drill more wells in the Eagle Ford shale, while Noble Energy will likely allocate more capital to Eagle Ford and the DJ Basin.

Even though marijuana is on its way to becoming legal in Canada and it’s been given the thumbs-up for medical purposes in 30 U.S. states, this is still very much a cash business. Federal scheduling in the U.S. ensures that access to lines of credit, loans, and even a basic checking account are few and far between. Meanwhile, in Canada, only recently have banks been given the OK to work strategically with marijuana businesses. This opens the door for armored truck and ATM service companies like Brink’s Company (NYSE:BCO) to succeed.

Thursday was a largely down day for the stock market, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average taking the biggest hit of the major benchmarks. The global turmoil over trade got a lot closer to home as the U.S. imposed new restrictions that led the Canadian government to issue retaliatory tariffs in response. Yet many broader-based measures of the market fell only slightly, showing that much of what drives the economy isn’t as dependent on trade as traditional industrial giants. Good news also sent some key stocks higher. Madrigal Pharmaceuticals (NASDAQ:MDGL), Brink’s (NYSE:BCO), and Applied Optoelectronics (NASDAQ:AAOI) were among the best performers on the day. Noble Midstream (NYSE:NBLX) has a bold plan to grow its already impressive 7.4%-yielding distribution to investors by 20% per year all the way through 2022, which is one of the fastest rates in the midstream sector. Driving that growth would be the expansion of the company’s oil and gas gathering system to support the anticipated increase in production from customers like its parent, Noble Energy (NYSE:NBL).

  • [By Matthew DiLallo]

Fueling that forecast is the company’s ability to expand its midstream footprint to support the growth of its customers, including its parent Noble Energy (NYSE:NBL). The company operates several gathering systems in both the Permian Basin and DJ Basin that it expects to continue expanding as customers drill more wells.

Top 10 Energy Stocks To Own Right Now

In the last issue of Fast-Track Millionaire, my readers and I learned a few basics about nanotechnology — the manipulation of matter on a molecular scale — an application that I think is going to yield some impressive, knock-the-cover-off-the-ball gains in the next decade.

One of the areas that likely will lead this charge — if you’ll excuse the pun — is batteries. Small ones that can last a long time and provide the juice your device, be it an iPad or a pacemaker, needs to do its job. This is a MASSIVE market that’s just getting bigger and busier — everything that’s connected needs power, and everything is, indeed, being connected these days.

But small batteries, as great as they are, are not the only thing that is exciting about the ever-changing world of energy storage. Big batteries — that is, super-large mega king-sized batteries — are also very interesting, and vital to the power grid.

  • [By Matthew DiLallo]

ConocoPhillips (NYSE:COP) has worked hard to distinguish itself from other oil companies over the past few years by shifting its focus from growing production to increasing shareholder value. That led it on a path to shed high-cost assets so that it could slim down to a company that could thrive at lower oil prices.

  • [By Matthew DiLallo]

According to a recent report by Reuters, ConocoPhillips (NYSE:COP) has held talks with investment banks about helping the company unload its stake in Cenovus Energy (NYSE:CVE). That sale could net the oil giant more than $2 billion in cash, which would bolster its already sizable cash war chest and give it more money to allocate in creating value for investors.

Anyone that has watched oil prices tick up recently has probably expected oil producers to report some impressive earnings results this past quarter, and Statoil (NYSE:STO) did just that with a 21% boost to the bottom line. At the same time, management is using all of its additional cash to do some wheeling and dealing that should help boost its growth possibilities in the nearer term.

The S&P 500, as well as the Dow and the Nasdaq have all hit new record highs today, helped along by a sharp increase in oil prices. And joining the party are the small-cap Russell 2000 and the S&P Midcap 400.

It didnt take much to set those records. The S&P 500 climbed almost 13.6 points, or 0.6% in recent market action to trade at 2,195.53 after earlier rising as high as 2,197.53.

Meanwhile, the Dow Jones Industrial Average climbed 0.4% today, while the Nasdaq gained 0.8% and the Russell 2000 added 0.3%. The S&P Midcap 400, meanwhile, climbed more than 0.5%.

As CNBC reported earlier:

The benchmark index on Monday hit a new record high for the first time since Aug. 15, breaking above 2,193.81. Leading the S&P higher were energy stocks, which surged around 2 percent on the back of soaring oil prices.

Best Energy Stocks To Watch For 2019: Transocean Inc.(RIG)

Advisors’ Opinion:

  • [By Ethan Ryder]

Quantitative Systematic Strategies LLC bought a new stake in Transocean LTD (NYSE:RIG) during the 1st quarter, HoldingsChannel reports. The institutional investor bought 13,609 shares of the offshore drilling services provider’s stock, valued at approximately $135,000.

  • [By Jason Hall]

Frankly, today’s big drop shouldn’t be a surprise for anyone. The company told us many months agothat common equity investors would only retain 2% — at most — of the company when it completed its bankruptcy proceedings, yet investors continued to pay a price for its stock that, at one point, would have made Seadrill worth nearly as much as competitorsTransocean(NYSE:RIG),Diamond Offshore(NYSE:DO),andNoble Corporation(NYSE:NE)combined. But a relatively steady decline in the share price, combined with today’s big drop, seems to be finally putting Seadrill more in line with its peers.

  • [By John Bromels]

Unless it’s not. Which it may not be. There’s a big cloud of uncertainty hanging over the company, in part thanks to its status as a very small fish in a very big deepwater ocean that’s full of huge, hungry competitors likeTransocean(NYSE:RIG) andEnsco(NYSE:ESV). Questions also abound about its parent company,Seadrill(NYSE:SDRL).

Best Energy Stocks To Watch For 2019: Sunoco LP(SUN)

But of the 14 analysts who follow the company, earnings estimates range as low as $1.22 and as high as $3.35 — so there is a high degree of uncertainty.

  • [By Joseph Griffin]

The only segment where earnings declined was the catch-all one labeled “all other,” which houses different investments such as its stake in Sunoco L.P. (NYSE:SUN) and PES, a refining joint venture. PES has struggled due to higher costs, and recently declared bankruptcy. Meanwhile, Energy Transfer’s earnings from Sunoco L.P. declined because that entity sold the bulk of its retail assets and then used that cash to repurchase a portion of Energy Transfer’s investment.

Best Energy Stocks To Watch For 2019: Noble Energy Inc.(NBL)

Advisors’ Opinion:

  • [By Matthew DiLallo]

While pipeline capacity constraints have hurt producers focused on the Permian, it has been a boon for midstream companies in the region, which have been able to quickly sign up shippers for proposed expansion projects. Private equity-backed EPIC Midstream was able to get major Permian producers Apache (NYSE:APA) and Noble Energy (NYSE:NBL) to sign up for a combined 175,000 barrels per day (BPD) on the company’s proposed EPIC Crude Oil Pipeline. EPIC currently plans to build a 440,000 BPD pipeline to ship crude out of the Permian. However, it could expand the line up to 675,00 BPD if there’s enough shipper demand. One of the reasons Noble was quick to sign on is that this line “provides long-term flow assurance for our rapidly growing Delaware Basin oil volumes,” according to the company. Apache, meanwhile, stated that this line “enhances our long-term operational flexibility and market optionality.” EPIC hopes to start construction on the pipeline later this year, which would put it in service by the second half of 2019. It’s one of the first projects by the private equity-backed start-up but likely won’t be its last given the infrastructure needs in the region.
