Top 5 Undervalued Stocks To Own Right Now

The market for cranes in North America seems to be coming back nicely after a difficult trough cycle brought on by the sudden downturn in the energy sector, but Manitex (MNTX) have flattened out some – while the stock is up a healthy 50%-plus over the past year, it’s basically flat since the time of my last write-up on the company. In that time, Manitex reported restated financials and continued to see good demand and order growth in its core crane operations.

Manitex shares still look somewhat undervalued on discounted cash flow and potentially more exciting on EV/EBITDA, particularly as EBITDA should ramp up significantly over the next couple of years. Investors shouldn’t lose sight of the risks, including an earlier peak to crane demand and rising input costs, but Manitex is an interesting under-followed machinery recovery story.

A Strong First Quarter

With only two sell-side analysts following the company, “average” estimates don’t necessarily mean all that much here. Nevertheless, Manitex did do better than expected this quarter.

Top 10 Clean Energy Stocks To Invest In 2019

The world’s largest automaker is putting big money into electric vehicles in China.

Volkswagen (VLKAF) and its local partners plan to invest more than 10 billion ($11.8 billion) to build electric and hybrid cars in the country — the world’s biggest auto market — over the next seven to eight years.

More electric vehicles are sold in China than anywhere else on the planet — and the national government is pushing companies to design and build them on Chinese territory.

Under the plan announced Thursday, VW and its partners are aiming to develop and produce as many as 40 new electric and hybrid vehicle models in China between now and 2025. It expects the first of the new models to hit the Chinese market next year.

VW’s top China exec, Jochem Heizmann, said the German company is “determined to be at the forefront” of China’s electric vehicle revolution.

China accounts for about 50% of the global market for clean energy vehicles, according to investment firm East Capital. Chinese officials said two months ago that they were working on a plan to eventually phase out the production and sale of vehicles powered solely by fossil fuels.

Oil prices are at levels we haven’t seen in years. U.S. crude topped $70 for the first since 2014, as U.S. President Donald Trump appeared increasingly likely to pull out of the Iran nuclear deal and reinforce sanctions on Tehran. In addition, OPEC has announced plans to bolster prices and cap production. For oil investors, Money MorningGlobal Energy Strategist Dr. Kent Moors says it’s time to buckle up. According to Moors, revoking the Iran deal would cause “price chaos” around the globe. And that’s right as driving season starts in the United States. Here’s more on the coming chaos for oil. At 4 p.m. ET this afternoon, U.S. President Barack Obama will reveal the eight individuals he’s tasked with serving on his Puerto Rico oversight board. These folks will be charged with restructuring the commonwealth’s massive $70 billion debt burden.

To be clear: This board is not tasked withdoling out another bailout placed at the feet of American taxpayers. It’s more like a bankruptcy — they’ll oversee the renegotiation and restructuring of Puerto Rico’s debt with lenders.

Seven of the eight Puerto Rico oversight board member appointees’ names were leaked to Bloomberg this morning. One still remains anonymous till that 4 p.m. press conference.

Quick reminder: This committee was formed as part of the recent PROMESA Act the president signed into effect on June 30. PROMESA was a bipartisan compromise with the Republican House and Senate. Both chambers approved the bill by a large margin before handing it over to the POTUS.

The latest implied forward rate forecast from Kamakura Corporation shows projected 10-year U.S. Treasury yields differing -0.07% to 0.03% from last week while fixed rate mortgage yields varied by -0.01% to 0.08%. Mortgage yields, determined by the Monday through Wednesday weekly survey of the Federal Home Loan Mortgage Corporation, lag Treasury movements simply because of the 3-day yield calculation used in the Primary Mortgage Market Survey. The 10-year U.S. Treasury yield is projected to rise from 2.92% at Thursday’s close (down 0.06% from last week) to 3.374% (down 0.06% from last week) in one year. The 10-year U.S. Treasury yield in ten years is forecast to reach 4.639%, 1 basis point lower than last week. The 15-year fixed rate mortgage rate is forecast to rise from the effective yield of 3.69% on Thursday (down 0.001% from last week) to 4.222% (down 0.006% from last week) in one year and 6.29% in 10 years, up 0.038% from last week. We explain the background for these calculations in the rest of this note, along with some mortgage servicing rights metrics. The forecast allows investors in exchange traded U.S. Treasury funds (TLT) (TBT), total return bond funds (BOND), municipal bonds (NUV) and exchange traded mortgage funds (REM) to assess likely total returns over the next 120 months. Treasury-related exchange traded funds affected by the forward rates include:

The Trump administration must stay focused despite the seemingly never ending flow of distractions, according to Ohio Governor John Kasich.

The former Republican presidential candidate said the administration must concentrate on its legislative message and avoid the distractions of the Russia investigation and the host of media leaks in the background.

“You have to be able to chew gum and walk at the same time,” Kasich said in an interview with TheStreet TV, adding that it’s probably not possible for the Trump administration to carry on as normal with the slew of media leaks and the Russia investigation in the background. “It’s also important to change the message so we can be talking about tax cuts and economic growth – that’s a good message.”

Trump has been trying to do just that with the unveiling of his budget proposals on Tuesday.

As details about the Pentagon’s plan have emerged, it’s become clear that this will be a sizable program, amounting to perhaps $1 trillion in spending over 30 years — not just to upgrade the Minuteman missiles, but also to buy new B-21 stealth bombers from Northrop Grumman (NYSE:NOC)and have General Dynamics (NYSE:GD) and Huntington Ingalls (NYSE:HII) design an entirely new class of ballistic missile submarines (to be known as the “Columbia class.”)
