Hot Blue Chip Stocks To Watch Right Now

As we know, the broad stock market indices have been resilient all year. And that strength, in large part, can be credited to a small group of stocks.

Among that group, the blue chip Internet stocks have led the way: Facebook, Amazon, Apple, Google and Netflix. Halfway through the year, those five stocks were up more than 40% on average. And those five stocks carry a lot of weight in the performance of the indexes.

And given the valuation of the index, you constantly hear how the market is overvalued or "fairly valued." It’s not true, for the reasons we’ve often discussed, related to historical low interest rates environments. And it’s certainly not true for the energy sector.

Take a look at energy performance year-to-date relative to the rest of the market:

Top Medical Stocks To Buy For 2018: Biotricity (BTCY)

Advisors’ Opinion:

  • [By Robert J. Smith]

Biotricity (OTCBB: BTCY) is a comer in the rapidly growing medical device market and is a small cap to take notice of. Driving this lucrative market are; IoT-driven device connectivity, governmental pressure to cut healthcare costs, escalating hospital costs, a need to reduce hospital readmission rates, an aging population, and a high rate of people with chronic disease. The largest factor driving this market is the rapidly growing rate of those afflicted with chronic disease.

  • [By Peter Graham]

Sandhill.com recently interviewed the chairman, CEO and founder Waqaas Al-Siddiq small cap wearables stock Biotricity (OTCQB: BTCY) about how wearables benefit patients, integrate into healthcare systems and improve treatment compliance as well as how the cloud and the Internet of Things impact the medical wearables space. biotricitys is a medical technology company focused on delivering innovative, remote biometric monitoring solutions to the medical and consumer markets, including diagnostic and post-diagnostic solutions for chronic conditions and lifestyle improvement. biotricitys R&D focuses on the preventative healthcare market, with a vision of putting health management into the hands of the individual by supporting the self-management of critical and chronic conditions.

  • [By Matthew Briar]

Ever heard the term ‘mHealth’? Or, maybe you’ve heard it by the full-length (and less hip) characterization mobile health. Regardless of what you call it, it’s the same … it’s the Q&D way to describe the new era of healthcare and medical equipment that operates outside of a hospital or clinic, and doesn’t require any wires to function. It’s the new way of taking care of patients, and more important, it’s a huge market. The mHealth market is projected to grow from $13.6 billion in 2015 to $49.1 billion by 2020, as the premise and technology hits a critical mass.

It’s an undertow – a paradigm shift – that favors lots of small cap stocks, but perhaps none as much as Biotricity Inc (OTCMKTS:BTCY).

Biotricity isn’t a household name. It may be soon, however. It’s the developer of two different but related wearable, 24/7 heart monitoring technologies. The device called bioflux is for use by caregivers in a clinical setting, remotely transmitting detailed information about the heart’s functioning which can then be analyzed by caregivers. The device known as biolife serves individuals outside of a clinical setting, largely doing the same chore. The advantage of the technology is mobility, without sacrificing accuracy.

The device furthest along the development path is bioflux. The company recently filed a 510k request with the FDA for its bioflux technology (the 510k path is for medical devices rather than drugs, and as such doesn’t require a lot of regulatory deliberation), and has heard back from the FDA about a key part of the device already – it got the green light. Another arm of the FDA must look at other aspects of the device.

The two devices utilize the same basic technology, but are clearly addressing different markets.

It must also be noted that the ECG monitoring software found in a bioflux has been approved by the FDA in the past and is already rather standard technology for ECG monitoring equipment in hospitals and

Top 10 Bank Stocks To Own Right Now

Federal law requires public companies like Wells Fargo to warn shareholders about non-routine legal proceedings.

Yet it has now emerged that Wells Fargo stayed silent for at least six months about the fact that authorities were investigating the bank’s creation of fake accounts.

Wells Fargo (WFC) confirmed on Thursday that it was in talks with the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau about unauthorized accounts as early as March 2016. This comes after the Charlotte Observer obtained emails under the Freedom of Information Act that revealed the discussions between the bank and the regulator.

The revelations will intensify questions over why Wells Fargo never alerted investors in public statements or public filings about the risk posed by what turned out to be a damaging investigation.

Wells Fargo’s September settlement with the CFPB and other regulators tarnished the storied bank’s reputation, hurt its stock price, led to the sudden retirement of CEO John Stumpf and included $185 million in fines.

Top 10 Bank Stocks To Own Right Now: Public Service Enterprise Group Incorporated(PEG)

Advisors’ Opinion:

  • [By Shauna O’Brien]

Jefferies announced on Tuesday that it has upgraded Public Service Enterprise Group Inc. (PEG).

The firm has lifted its rating on PEG from “Hold” to “Buy,” and has raised the company’s price target from $36 to $37. This price target suggests a 12% increase from the stock’s current price of $32.42.

Analyst Paul Fremont commented: “We are upgrading to Buy based on the improving outlook for regulatory approval of the company’s “Energy Strong” capital spending program.

“Each $1.0 billion of incremental spending will add an estimated $0.10 to PEG’s earnings. We assume that incremental spending is funded by debt and by incremental cash expected from the increasing gas basis differential between the Leidy hub and New Jersey. Our new estimates are considerably higher than consensus in 2014-16.”

Public Service Enterprise Group shares were mostly flat during pre-market trading Tuesday. The stock is up 6% YTD.

Top 10 Clean Energy Stocks For 2018

Iconix Brand Group (ICON) announced a divestiture, and a rather significant one. The company is selling its Sharper Image Brand in a $100 million deal, reducing its net debt position by roughly a tenth.

This is a surprising move after the company has gone on an acquisition spree over the past decade, resulting in elevated debt ratios and negligence of the 篓own篓 brands. This divestiture marks a 篓break篓 of the past strategy, as deleveraging reduces leverage risks for investors, while it does not have to be dilutive to earnings per share, given the high cost of financing.

While I am not eager to jump on the momentum bandwagon seen in 2016, Iconix remains interesting on dips based on the earnings potential and stable revenue base. These factors are offset by high leverage and poor decision making of management in the past, yet I applaud the deleveraging moves.

A Brand Management Company

Iconix owns and licenses apparel, footwear, home, accessory and entertainment brands. These products are mostly found in department stores such as Kohl麓s (NYSE:KSS), Sears (NASDAQ:SHLD), Kmart, Macy麓s (NYSE:M) and Target (NYSE:TGT), among others. Given the challenges of these department stores, it is evident that Iconix is not operating in a very favorable environment at this point in time. Fortunately the company has exposure to retailers which are doing better including CVS (NYSE:CVS), Lowe麓s (NYSE:LOW), Costco (NASDAQ:COST) and even Amazon.com (NASDAQ:AMZN).

As I write this, the Paris Auto show has begun, where “Daimler Mercedes-Benz unveiled a battery-powered sport-utility vehicle, a direct competitor to Tesla’s Model X, which will have a range of 310 miles on a single charge and is slated to launch in 2020. The vehicle will be part of a new sub-brand of Mercedes called EQ”.

Invisalign is one of the hottest products of the year thanks to teens and adults who want straight teeth without metal in their mouths.

The shift to clear aligners has powered Align Technology (ALGN), the company behind Invisalign, to a record year. Align’s value has nearly tripled, making it the top performer on the S&P 500. It’s worth close to $20 billion.

“Braces are no longer a right of passage for teens,” said Jeff Johnson, an RW Baird analyst. Invisalign is “quickly moving into the mass adoption part of the market.”

More than a million teens across the globe have ordered Invisalign, Align announced in November. Five million people have purchased the treatment, which costs anywhere between $3,000 – $8,000.

Align sales have grown two years in a row, and its last quarter was the best in the company’s 20-year history.

Orders among teens spiked to nearly 70,000 this past quarter, a 46% rise compared to the same period last year. Credit Suisse analyst Erin Wright called the jump “momentous.”

Top Value Stocks To Watch For 2018: Broadcom Corporation(BRCM)

Advisors’ Opinion:

  • [By Shauna O’Brien]

Susquehanna reported on Tuesday that it has raised its rating on Broadcom Corporation (BRCM).

The firm has upgraded BRCM from “Neutral” to “Positive,” and has lifted the company’s price target from $33 to $35. This price target suggests a 23% upside from the stock’s current price of $26.91.

Analyst Chris Caso commented: “Our downgrade of BRCM in May was predicated on already high Street expectations on handsets and no notable improvement in networking to drive upside. We think expectations and the stock price have now been sufficiently reset ahead of what we expect to be catalysts in 2014 including the iPhone 6 product cycle, potential improvement in networking and the impact from the recent Renesas acquisition. In addition, after several years of overspending on their handset initiatives, we think we are now closer to the point where the company either captures a return on that investment or is forced to moderate spending either of which benefit profitability.
