Top 10 Undervalued Stocks To Watch Right Now

Our Top Pick for conservative investors for the coming year is a company that went through a management overhaul in 2015, leaving investors uncertain about the company’s future, observes Crista Huff, editor of Cabot Undervalued Stocks Advisor.

Mattel (MAT) markets toys globally under the brand names Mattel, Fisher-Price, RoseArt, Barbie, AmericanGirl and many more, including strategic relationships with Disney (DIS), Google (GOOGL) and YouTube.

As a result of its prior overhaul, the stock got left in the dust. Consumer goods stocks were additionally tossed aside during the post-election stock market run-up.

That gives investors a buying opportunity in the sector’s undervalued growth stocks, including MAT.

Mattel’s earnings per share, which will finish 2016 with weak 1-2% growth (December year-end), are expected to grow 38% in 2017!

This mid-cap stock’s 2017 price/earnings ratio is 16, and the dividend yield is a huge 5.4%. Mattel typically increases the dividend about once per year.

Top 10 Undervalued Stocks To Watch Right Now: CytRx Corporation(CYTR)

Advisors’ Opinion:

  • [By Roberto Pedone]

Another under-$10 biotechnology player that’s starting to trend within range of triggering a major breakout trade is CytRx (CYTR), which has an oncology pipeline that includes two programs in clinical development for cancer indications: aldoxorubicin and tamibarotene. This stock has been moving to the upside during the last three months, with shares up by 21%.

If you take a look at the chart for CytRx, you’ll notice that this stock has been trending sideways inside of a consolidation chart pattern for the last two months, with shares moving between $2.27 on the downside and $2.68 on the upside. That consolidation pattern has occurred right above this stock’s 50-day and 200-day moving averages. Shares of CYTR have now started to break out above some near-term overhead resistance at $2.49 a share. That move is quickly pushing CYTR within range of triggering an even bigger breakout trade above the upper-end of its recent sideways trading chart pattern.

Market players should now look for long-biased trades in CYTR if it manages to break out above some near-term overhead resistance levels at $2.68 to $2.80 a share with high volume. Look for a sustained move or close above those levels with volume that registers near or above its three-month average action of 154,838 shares. If that breakout triggers soon, then CYTR will set up to re-test or possibly take out its next major overhead resistance levels at $3.20 to $4 a share.

Traders can look to buy CYTR off any weakness to anticipate that breakout and simply use a stop that sits right below its 200-day at $2.33 a share or below more support at $2.27 a share. One can also buy CYTR off strength once it clears those breakout levels with volume and then simply use a stop that sits a comfortable percentage from your entry point.

Top 10 Undervalued Stocks To Watch Right Now: Ambarella, Inc.(AMBA)

Advisors’ Opinion:

  • [By Rick Munarriz]

Ambarella (NASDAQ:AMBA) wasn’t as scintillating as NVIDIA last year, merely marching in place. However, the provider of video compression and image processing semiconductors has seen its stock pop ninefold since going public at $6 five years ago.

  • [By Peter Graham]

Ambarella, Inc. (AMBA) has been all over the map over the last few years. It has defied gravity both to the up and to the downside, and although today’s suggested short of the stock is strictly technical, we do believe its current share price has once again gotten a little out of line when you compare it to the rest of the markets’ valuation metrics right now.

Can Q3 earnings lift Ambarella Inc (NASDAQ:AMBA) stock?

Shares of semiconductor design company Ambarella Inc (NASDAQ:AMBA) are sliding down ahead of earnings, closing in the red for consecutive three straight trading sessions. The company whose technology is behind the low power, high-definition and ultra HD video compression and image processing products,is scheduled to report its fiscal 2018 third-quarter earnings today after the closing bell. AMBA stock has not gone anywhere since its last earnings release and is almost flat but it is losing momentumgoing into earnings, down nearly 7% in the last 5 trading days. This brings us to the question, can earnings lift Ambarella stock? The technical setup has also turned little bearish recently. Will earnings help stem the downtrend in Ambarella stock? Well, first, let’s take a look at the analyst estimates.

  • [By Leo Sun]

Chipmaker Ambarella (NASDAQ:AMBA) produces image processing SoCs (systems on chips) for a wide range of products, including action cameras, dash cams, drones, security cameras, and augmented reality glasses. But it generates most of its direct OEM revenue from one customer — action camera maker GoPro (NASDAQ:GPRO).

Coca-Cola Bottling Co. (NYSE: COKE) had a revenue increase to $2.3 billion in its most recentfiscal year, from $1.7 billion in the previous one. It is moving into Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky, Illinois and West Virginia, which almost certainly will require capital. Its net sales rose 37% in the most recent quarter to $840 million. Management stated this was because of “Organic growth in the legacy territories as well as territory expansion through the acquisition of several new distribution territories from Coca-Cola led to the solid performance.” The current dividend is $1, or 0.66%.

SMMYY is a subsidiary of the Sumitomo Group. SMMYY is a major smelter and refiner of copper, nickel and gold in Japan, and has a 27.5% stake in the Ambatovy Nickel Project in Madagascar, along with Sherritt International and Korea Resources Corp. Feedstock for the refinery is nickel cobalt mixed sulphide from its Taganito and Coral Bay mines in the Philippines (noting the Philippines is a risky supply source at this time). Sumitomo supply Panasonic (OTCPK:PCRFY) who supply Tesla (NASDAQ:TSLA); however, this can change. Generally, I like the stock; however, at this time, valuation looks full, trading on a 2017 PE of 32.8, and 2018 PE of 14.8. Good to buy after a pullback if that occurs.

Clean Technica reported on September 1 that “Sony is entering the EV battery manufacturing industry”. And “considering that electric vehicle batteries are going to be the main supply bottleneck for the upcoming auto market’s embrace of EVs, the entry of Sony into the field is very notable. Most of the other manufacturers (Panasonic (OTCPK:PCRFY), LG Chem (OTC:LGCLF), etc.) already have more or less all of their production capacity locked up for the coming years – meaning there’s not much left for the auto manufacturers that are running behind, thereby limiting potential EV sales for the firms in question. Sony’s (NYSE:SNE) entry into the field should open things up a bit more”. Certainly a good move by Sony and helpful for the EV companies that will find themselves in need of batteries, and limited availability, should EVs reach 10% by 2020.

Top 10 Undervalued Stocks To Watch Right Now: Great Plains Energy Inc(GXP)

Advisors’ Opinion:

  • [By Dan Caplinger]

Westar Energy stock declined 8% after regulators at the Kansas Corporation Commissions blocked the sale of Westar to Great Plains Energy (NYSE:GXP). The $12.2 billion merger would have joined utilities in Kansas and Missouri. Great Plains had argued that the combination would produce nearly $2 billion in efficiency gains in the next 10 years, but regulators instead sided with those who had argued that the deal was too rich and would have required rate increases sooner rather than later. Great Plains stock was hardly affected at all by the decision, leading many to conclude that Westar had a lot more to lose from the deal falling through then Great Plains had to gain from a successful merger.

day trading futures

There’s been lots of chatter about the mining stocks diverging from the gold (NYSEARCA:GLD) price the past few weeks, and I’ve been embracing this divergence with open arms. It’s rare that you get the opportunity to buy shares in gold companies with a higher gold price and a lower oil (NYSEARCA:USO) price than you were able to a few months ago. This value proposition becomes even more attractive when many of these companies have made substantial progress already this year that they’re being given zero value for. I’ve been combing through hundreds of junior miners the past 6 weeks in an attempt to find any that I may have missed that have yet to breakout. The most recent gold company I stumbled upon was NewCastle Gold (OTCPK:CTMQF), a junior explorer with a grandiose open-pit deposit in California. NewCastle continues to report impressive intercepts from its Castle Mountain Project, and the resource estimate scheduled for later this year should reflect this.

day trading futures: LaSalle Hotel Properties(LHO)

Advisors’ Opinion:

  • [By Marshall Hargrave]

The other key benefit for Strategic is that it enjoys industry-leading earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) per available room. For 2012, Strategic generated $81 per room of EBITDA. Compare this to top comps LaSalle Hotel (NYSE: LHO) at $74 per room and Pebblebrook Hotel Trust (NYSE: PEB) at $71. The reason for this is that Strategic is much less reliant than its peers on rooms, with much greater exposure to food and beverages. Strategic earns 53% of its revenue from rooms, while its peers get around 66% of revenues from rooms.

Advisors’ Opinion:

  • [By Jim Robertson]

On Thursday, our Under the Radar Moversnewsletter suggested small cap green energy stock American DG Energy (NYSEMKT: ADGE) as a long trade:

As for American DG Energy, today’s push above a technical ceiling at $0.34 is telling, though that clue is made more telling when you see the short-term moving average lines have given us key bullish crosses over the course of the past couple of months; the undertow is turning bullish. What you can’t see on the daily chart is that this is the first time in years we’ve seen higher lows logged for ADGE.

The bulk of Finisar’s February surge started when chief rival Lumentum (NASDAQ:LITE) delivered a strong earnings surprise, followed by several rosy analyst reviews. Lumentum’s solid results led investors to optimistic conclusions about the many target markets these two companies have in common, and Finisar’s gains nearly matched Lumentum’s post-earnings surge.

Friday was a good day on Wall Street, as the stock market responded favorably to encouraging news on the employment front. The U.S. unemployment rate dropped on fairly strong job creation during the month of February, and that helped push the Dow, S&P 500, and Nasdaq Composite to modest gains of roughly between a quarter percent and a half percent. Yet even with a positive mood among market participants, some stocks weren’t able to participate in the end-of-week rally. Finisar (NASDAQ:FNSR), Zumiez (NASDAQ:ZUMZ), and Winnebago Industries (NYSE:WGO) were among the worst performers on the day. Top 10 High Tech Stocks To Buy Right Now: J.M. Smucker Company (The)(SJM)

Advisors’ Opinion:

  • [By Teresa Rivas]

J.M. Smucker(SJM) is falling Monday, after Morgan Stanley’sMatthew Grainger and his team cut their rating on the stock, citing pricing pressures from Wal-Mart (WMT) and growing competition from private-labels.

    Getty Images

Grainger slash Smucker to Underweight from Equal Weight, and shaved $6 off his price target, to $126. He also cites what he calls “sustained” challenges in both its coffee and pet food business, as well as“below-average strategic optionality.”

At the same time, he also upgraded Pinnacle Foods (PF) to Overweight from Equal Weight, and raised his price target to $63 from $58, on its double-digit earnings growth and what he sees as superior execution.

Nonetheless, he sees many of the packaged food companies in his coverage, from Smucker to Pinnacle, as subject to pressure from Wal-Mart and off-brand rivals. From the note:

Walmart comprises ~22% of sales across our coverage, a figure that has increased in recent years even as the retailers total grocery sales have grown at an even faster 4% CAGR. With Food margins expected to expand meaningfully, we believe this only enhances Walmart’s negotiating leverage going forward. SJM, Dean Foods (DF), and General Mills (GIS) are most at risk in the current environment, in our view.

Recent scanner data points to a positive inflection in private label trends (share up ~30 bps L12W) across a range of center-store categories, a dynamic we believe could intensify in an increasingly competitive retail grocery landscape. Our analysis of recent trends points to the most meaningful underperformance vs. private label at GIS, SJM, ConAgra (CAG), and Campbell Soup (CPB), while only PF has outperformed in recent weeks.

Top 10 High Tech Stocks To Buy Right Now: Energy XXI Ltd. (EXXIQ)

Advisors’ Opinion:

  • [By SEEKINGALPHA.COM]

The reality is often different. What is going on with Bellatrix Exploration is actually above average. I have written about many companies such as Sandridge Energy (NYSE:SD), Energy XXI (OTCPK:EXXIQ), and Halcon Resources (NYSE:HK) where the companies supposedly has premier assets, fantastically valuable reserves, and the investors lost everything. Right now Chesapeake Energy (NYSE:CHK) appears to be heading down the same miserable pathway as the others. At least with Bellatrix, the company appears to be entering the slow turnaround phase. But this has definitely not been a painless experience.

Top 10 High Tech Stocks To Buy Right Now: Great Plains Energy Inc(GXP)

Top 5 High Tech Stocks To Watch For 2018

With the S&P 500 hitting another new high yesterday, UBS strategistJulian Emanuel and team wonder if buyback activity is signalling a market top:

Spencer Platt/Getty Images

On one hand, many would argue that the emphasis on share repurchases is merely a sign of the times the US economy continues to grow (albeit slowly) while corporates enjoy ample balance sheet flexibility in an entirely unprecedented ultralow interest rate environment characterized by the Fed’s ongoing reluctance to raise rates as much of the world’s government debt has moved to negative yields…

On the other hand, buyback activity near all-time highs could be considered a potential sign that the current Bull Market is approaching its peak. While there is a plausible argument supporting greater share repurchases return of excess cash in the absence of viable alternative investments firms have historically exhibited poor timing. Management tends to repurchase shares in bull markets when profits are high and balance sheets are flush with cash, while cutting back during recessions (precisely the time they should be buying over the long term).

Top 5 High Tech Stocks To Watch For 2018: Celanese Corporation(CE)

Advisors’ Opinion:

  • [By Ben Levisohn]

Time To Favor Optionality: Most macro data are similar to, or better than, when the merger was announced. As a result, the same returns have been obtainable, with significantly less stress, simply through owning 3M (MMM) or a basket of chemical companies that approximate the Dow-DuPont portfolio. Relative to the chemical sector, performance has been average, leverage appears reasonable but near-term FCF less-than compelling partly due to new capacity ramping. With the merger likely to close in the near-term (90% chance, in our view), we believe Dow-DuPont will have an opportunity to show how scale creates optionality. The overhaul at Celanese (CE) over the past few years shows the way.

Top 5 High Tech Stocks To Watch For 2018: Aurora Cannabis Inc. (ACBFF)

Advisors’ Opinion:

  • [By Sean Williams]

This rapid growth in legal pot has create quite the demand for marijuana stocks. The seven largest marijuana stocks by market cap have all put on a show over the past couple of years. Here are those seven “green giants” listed with their market caps as of March 17, 2017, along with their trailing one-year total returns.

    GW Pharmaceuticals (NASDAQ:GWPH): $3.0 billion, up 64% Canopy Growth Corp. (NASDAQOTH:TWMJF): $904 million, up 259% Aphria (NASDAQOTH:APHQF) $440 million, up 381% Aurora Cannabis (NASDAQOTH:ACBFF): $482 million, up 299% AXIM Biotechnologies (NASDAQOTH:AXIM): $562 million, up 1,720% Corbus Pharmaceuticals (NASDAQ:CRBP): $450 million, up 431% Medical Marijuana (NASDAQOTH:MJNA): $221 million, up 254%

As you can see, these are some hefty valuations — and some exceptionally strong moves higher on the heels of marijuana’s expansion. With the exception of GW Pharmaceuticals, every one of the largest marijuana stocks has at least tripled in value over the trailing 12 months, with cannabinoid-based drug developer AXIM Biotechnologies skyrocketing more than 1,700%!

While biotechs like GW Pharmaceuticals PLC- ADR (NASDAQ: GWPH) and Zynerba Pharmaceuticals Inc (NASDAQ: ZYNE) only lost 0.45 percent and 0.36 percent respectively, other companies experienced a large tumble. • [By Javier Hasse]

Also quite recently, Benzinga asked Alan Brochstein, founding partner at New Cannabis Ventures and founder at 420 Investor, about plays in the marijuana industry against such an uncertain backdrop. The expert mentioned a few Canadian Licensed Producers, including AURORA CANNABIS IN COM NPV (OTC: ACBFF), APHRIA INC NPV (OTC: APHQF), METTRUM HEALTH COR COM NPV (OTC: MQTRF), ORGANIGRAM HLDGS I COM NPV (OTC: OGRMF), SUPREME PHARMACEUT COM NPV (OTC: SPRWF) and CANOPY GROWTH CORP COM NPV (OTC: TWMJF), as well as “the only” biotech stock in the space, GW Pharmaceuticals PLC- ADR (NASDAQ: GWPH).

As increasingly more marijuana growers entered the market and more states allowed residents to legally grow marijuana, cannabis prices dropped throughout 2016. Wholesale marijuana prices late in the year were roughly half the levels of 12 months earlier. Will this trend continue — and possibly hurt leading marijuana stocks including Aphria (NASDAQOTH:APHQF),Aurora Cannabis (NASDAQOTH:ACBFF), Medical Marijuana,Inc.(NASDAQOTH:MJNA), and even GW Pharmaceuticals (NASDAQ:GWPH) in the process?

  • [By SEEKINGALPHA.COM]

This article is for those who are hopeful of the long-term view and want to get in ahead of time. This article will compare the three front-runners of the Canadian cannabis industry, Canopy Growth Corp. (OTCPK:TWMJF), Aphria (NYSE:APH), and Aurora (OTCQX:ACBFF). Although these companies will soon have to prove themselves in a new environment, there is plenty to study right now. We will be comparing revenue growth, production capacity, valuations, and then making financial projections. The result will be a recommendation of Aurora followed by Canopy. Again this article is meant to compare competitors. The industry has the potential to be a 22.6B industry but the thesis for investing in Canadian cannabis is a separate topic and I encourage you to consider the risks.
