Hot Heal Care Stocks To Watch For 2018

What happened

Shares of Atwood Oceanics (NYSE:ATW) are bounding higher on Wednesday and were up more than 13% by 3:00 p.m. EDT. There wasn’t any news to drive the stock higher today. Instead, it appears that investors finally decided they like the company’s messy fiscal second-quarter report.

So what

Atwood Oceanics reported a mixed quarter on Monday night because of several one-time items. On the positive side, the company benefited from a one-time $48.1 million payment after a client chose to revert a contract back to the original term. Further, it recorded an $8.4 million gain on the extinguishment of debt. That said, the company also took a $59 million impairment charge after it wrote down a rig to its salvage value and subsequently sold that vessel for recycling.

While that report was neutral at best, there were a few things CEO Robert Saltiel said on the subsequent conference call worth noting. First, he pointed out that one of its clients,Kosmos Energy (NYSE:KOS), just made another offshore gas discovery in Senegal. Because of Kosmos Energy’s success, Atwood was in discussions to extend its current contract. Meanwhile, Saltiel noted that Atwood was working on several opportunities for new rig contracts, and he was “hopeful” that the company would win some of these deals. That optimism appears to be one of the fuels of today’s rally.

Hot Heal Care Stocks To Watch For 2018: CyberArk Software Ltd.(CYBR)

Advisors’ Opinion:

  • [By Joe Tenebruso]

CyberArk Software (NASDAQ:CYBR) reported fourth-quarter financial results on Feb. 9. The Israeli cybersecurity specialist continues to win new business for its “privileged account” security solutions, which help to protect against cyberattacks that use insider privileges to penetrate network perimeters and assault the most sensitive areas of an enterprise’s IT infrastructure.

Hot Heal Care Stocks To Watch For 2018: GlaxoSmithKline PLC(GSK)

Advisors’ Opinion:

  • [By Keith Speights]

There are several choices for investing in HIV drug stocks. Three of the best options for long-term investors are Gilead Sciences (NASDAQ:GILD), GlaxoSmithKline (NYSE:GSK), and Merck (NYSE:MRK). Here’s why these HIV drug stocks could be solid picks in 2017.

  • [By Keith Speights]

Gilead’s primary rival in the HIV market is Viiv Healthcare, which is majority-owned byGlaxoSmithKline (NYSE:GSK).The company recently announced positive results from a late-stage clinical study of its HIV drug Tivicay combined with Johnson & Johnson’s Edurant.

  • [By Todd Campbell]

Also, like in hepatitis C, competitors are attempting to win away market share. For example,ViiV Healthcare, a joint venture spearheaded by GlaxoSmithKline(NYSE:GSK), is actively pursuing new HIV therapies that could make it more difficult for Gilead Sciences to maintain its market share dominance. In December, ViiV announced that a single tablet, two-drug combination that includes Johnson & Johnson’s Edurant met its primary endpoint in phase 3 studies. A filing for FDA approval is slated for this year.

  • [By Sean Williams]

Third, in late March, Mylan announced that the Food and Drug Administration had rejected its application to market a generic version of GlaxoSmithKline’s (NYSE:GSK) blockbuster asthma and COPD inhalable drug, Advair. GlaxoSmithKline’s Advair lost patent protection more than six years ago, but only within the past couple of years did the FDA lay out a course for generic drug producers to follow in order to get a generic version of the drug approved. Meanwhile, Glaxo still enjoys blockbuster sales of Advair as generic versions of the drug have yet to hit the market.

  • [By WWW.MONEYSHOW.COM]

Two of our top holdings, GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) and Merck (MRK) have seen substantial improvement in earnings as new drugs start to build market share. Glaxo and Merck offer dividend yields of 4.71% and 3.08%, respectively.

Hot Heal Care Stocks To Watch For 2018: Pinnacle Bankshares Corporation (PPBN)

Advisors’ Opinion:

  • [By WWW.MONEYSHOW.COM]

Pinnacle Bankshares (PPBN) is a 100 + year old bank in Virginia; it is also growing like crazy, loan quality also very strong, great market share and a wealthy market area.

  • [By SEEKINGALPHA.COM]

A community bank that I know you haven’t heard of is Pinnacle Bankshares (OTCQX:PPBN). Pinnacle Bankshares is your typical community bank. The bank’s assets are almost at $400 million, the market cap is trending around $30 million and the bank has a handful of locations in the Virginia area. Even though the bank is relatively unheard of, there is quite a lot to like as an investor.

financial stocks to buy

Earlier this year, I profiled one of the best stocks in the perennially un-sexy aftermarket auto parts sector. This stock is still an incredible buy for patient, conservative investors focused on the long haul.

After delivering 9% (including dividends) since my recommendation, shares of Genuine Parts Co. (NYSE: GPC) now trade at an attractive 15% discount to their 52-week high. Despite the rise and sudden drop, my original investment thesis is still intact.

As I pointed out in the previous article, the U.S. aftermarket auto parts space is still highly fragmented. While the big national players such as GPC, O’Reilly (Nasdaq: ORLY), and AutoZone (NYSE: AZO) seem to have a gigantic presence, mom and pop operations are still relevant players on a market share basis. However, consolidating within that independent space is GPC’s growth strategy.

Recently, the company closed on two acquisitions: Apache Hose and Belting Company and Monroe Motor Products. With these two smart buys, GPC was able to add another $125 million to its current annual revenue number of $15.28 billion. They also help solidify GPC’s automotive and industrial supply footprint.

  • [By Nicholas Rossolillo]

It has been a year worth forgetting for shareholders of Fitbit (NYSE:FIT). The wearables maker has seen sales sputter and profitability took a big hit thanks to a steep increase in expenses. However, much of that money has been aggressively put into research and development in the past year. While that has contributed to the dismal-looking bottom line, investing for the future is a good thing.

  • [By James E. Brumley]

While the economy’s natural — and recurring — cycles favor different kinds of stocks at different times, not every great trend is necessarily a cyclical one. Sometimes, a trend is rooted in a technological development that changes cultural norms. The advent of the smartphone, for example, has made constant connectivity to the world around part of how we live our daily lives.

These mega-trends present tremendous opportunities for investors too, provided they’re savvy enough to see them coming and play them the right way.

One such mega-trend newly underway right now is the proliferation of wearables… devices that meld clothing (often a wrist-worn device) and technology to perform a function that couldn’t be performed otherwise. Much of the same technology that made the smartphone possible are now ushering in wearables.

It’s not been a smooth beginning. however.

While the buzz was strong and expectations reached a peak two years ago when Fitbit Inc (NYSE:FIT) was all the rage and in the wake of its IPO, the company’s growth wasn’t to be sustained. The company is struggling to muster any growth now, and FIT shares have fallen to a tenth of their value seen in late-2015, when the euphoria was strongest.

Fitbit’s slowdown has been mirrored by other companies in the space. The wearables market only grew 3.1% in Q3 of 2016.

On the flipside, while the debacle of Fitbit — the wearable industry’s iconic company — has been a painful, it’s also been a learning experience. And, it’s not as if the slowdown is unfurling without the wearables market never reaching a respectable size. International Data Corporation estimates were 23 million ‘wearables’ delivered in the third quarter of last year alone.

Moreover, the fizzling of the market hasn’t turned into a reason to swear off wearables as an investment opportunity… quite the opposite, actually. It’s just now become considerably clearer what consumers want an

The other producing lithium miners, and soon to be producers. I have discussed these previously in detail here, here and here. Needless to say, the top 3 producers are non-pure plays (SQM (NYSE:SQM), Albemarle (NYSE:ALB), and FMC Corp. (NYSE:FMC)). The top pure play currently producing miners are Orocobre (ASX:ORE) (OTCPK:OROCF), Tianqi Lithium (SHE:002466), Jiangxi Ganfeng Lithium, Galaxy Resources, Mineral Resources [ASX:MIN] (OTC:MALRF), and Neometals [ASX:NMT] (OTC:RRSSF). The near-term producers include Altura Mining [ASX:AJM] (OTCPK:ALTAF), Pilbara Minerals (ASX:PLS) (OTC:PILBF), Kidman Resources (ASX:KDR), Critical Elements, Nemaska Lithium (OTCQX:NMKEF) [TSX:NMX], Lithium Americas (OTCQX:LACDF) [TSX:LAC], Lithium X (OTCQX:LIXXF) (TSXV:LIX), Neo Lithium, and Bacanora Minerals (OTC:BCRMF) [TSXV:BCN], Advantage Lithium (OTCQB:AVLIF) [AAL], European Metals (OTCPK:MNTCF, ASX:EMH, AIM:EMH) and Pure Energy (OTCQB:PEMIF) [PE].

  • [By SEEKINGALPHA.COM]

The question now is more about speed of EV implementation. On the supply side, it has been great to see LAC, Pilbara Minerals (OTCPK:PILBF) and Altura Mining (OTCPK:ALTAF) get funding, but the continued issues with Albemarle’s (NYSE:ALB) LaNegra II expansion and Orocobre (OTCPK:OROCF) ramping up to Phase 1 capacity of 17,500 tonnes/year of lithium carbonate are further evidence that lithium projects take time and have considerable execution risk.

Jimmy Buffett sure knows how to make the most of a catchy tune and a party vibe. Somehow the 70-year-old singer-songwriter has turned wasting away again in Margaritaville into an aspirational goal. True, nibblin on sponge cake, watchin the sun bake does sound pretty nice (especially on a cold gray day in March). That laid-back sensibility is what attracts visitors to his sprawling collection of Margaritaville restaurants, casinos, hotels and resorts around the globe. And now theres another option for folks who cant get enough of the Margaritaville state of mind he peddles. Buffett has announced that hes opening a string of Margaritaville retirement communities in 2017. Which got us thinking: Which other songs could be spun into successful themed retirement communities? Quite a few, it turns out.

A long term performance chart shows shares of Hasbro, Inc largely trending upward while shares of peers like mid cap Mattel, Inc (NASDAQ: MAT) and small cap JAKKS Pacific, Inc (NASDAQ: JAKK) have largely trended downward:

  • [By Roberto Pedone]

One under-$10 toy player that’s trending very close to triggering a major breakout trade is Jakks Pacific (JAKK), which is a producer and marketer of children’s toys and other consumer products. This stock has been destroyed by the bears so far in 2013, with shares off sharply by 60%.

If you take a look at the chart for Jakks Pacific, you’ll notice that this stock has been downtrending badly for the last two months and change, with shares plunging from its high of $11.75 to its recent low of $4.82 a share. During that downtrend, shares of JAKK have been consistently making lower highs and lower lows, which is bearish technical price action. That said, shares of JAKK look like they might be ready to see an end to its downside volatility in the short-term if the recent lows can hold. I believe this due to the fact that JAKK has started to move sideways and trend within range of triggering a major breakout trade.

Traders should now look for long-biased trades in JAKK if it manages to break out above some near-term overhead resistance levels at $5.08 to $5.27 a share with high volume. Look for a sustained move or close above those levels with volume that hits near or above its three-month average action of 695,817 shares. If that breakout triggers soon, then JAKK will set up to re-test or possibly take out its next major overhead resistance levels at $5.68 to its 50-day moving average at $6.07 a share. Any high-volume move above its 50-day will then put $7 to $8 into range for shares of JAKK.

Traders can look to buy JAKK off weakness to anticipate that breakout and simply use a stop that sits right below some key near-term support levels at $4.87 to $4.82 a share. One can also buy JAKK off strength once it clears those breakout levels with volume and then simply use a stop that sits a comfortable percentage from your entry point.

Best Blue Chip Stocks To Invest In 2018

February28, 2017: Markets opened lower again Tuesday but neither the Nasdaq Composite nor the S&P 500 index could climb out of the slough of despond. The blue chips did rise into positive territory briefly, but couldn’t hold onto the gains. Among the 11 S&P sectors, only utilities and consumer staples traded above the breakeven line while the losers were consumer discretionary sotcks and materials. WTI crude oil for April delivery settled at $54.01 a barrel, down 4 cents on the day, but up about 2.3% in the month of February. April gold dropped 0.4% on the day to settle at $1,253.90, but posted a gain of about 3.5% for the month. Equities were headed for a lower close shortly before the bell as the DJIA traded down 0.18% for the day, the S&P 500 traded down 0.35%, and the Nasdaq Composite traded down 0.70%.

The DJIA stock posting the largest daily percentage loss ahead of the close Tuesday was Wal-Mart Stores Inc. (NYSE: WMT) which traded down 1.58% at $70.61. The stock’s 52-week range is $62.72 to $75.19. Volume was about 30% above the daily average of around 9 million shares. The CEO commented:

SeaWorld Entertainment (SEAS) is probably the most famous example of a company that’s suffered from animal cruelty allegations. Shares of the theme park operator, backed by Blackstone (BX) , have never recovered from the release of the 2013 documentary Blackfish, which argued that orca captivity is inhumane and dangerous to the human trainers of the orcas. SeaWorld announced in March that it would phase out its orca captivity, breeding and live shows. The company’s remaining whales, most of which were born in captivity, will live out their lives at the parks. The news sent SeaWorld shares soaring 9%, but continued attendance drops forced the company to slash its dividend and invest $175 million in new attractions.

On Friday morning, Zoomlion announced it had terminated its bid for its proposed acquisition of Terex for $31/ share. This was a clear negative for Terex shares, which traded down ~15% on Friday to $20, given the absence of an event-driven catalyst (following the sale of MHPS to Konecranes, which we assume will be completed). However, we think that the stock’s current discount to the Machinery group on a P/E basis (20%+) is justified, given a still challenged underlying operating environment for the RemainCo, as well as historically uneven company execution – both of which return to the forefront of the investment debate following the removal of the M&A bull case.

Ever walk past a construction site? It’s hard not to be enthralled by all the heavy construction machinery moving things around. With the world’s developing economies still building at a relatively fast pace and developing economies, like the United States, in desperate need of upgrading their aging infrastructure, the companies behind that construction machinery could be just as exciting as a construction site in the years ahead. Which is why Caterpillar Inc. (NYSE:CAT), Cummins Inc. (NYSE:CMI), and Terex Corporation (NYSE:TEX) are three of the top construction machinery stocks to look at right now.

Yesterday, Terex (TEX) announced that it would sell its ports business to Konecranes for $1.3 billion. Today, Baird’s Mircea Dobre and Joseph Grabowski upgraded Terex to Outperform from Neutral, arguing that the sale makes a takeover by China’s Zoomlion that much easier. They explain:

    Balint Porneczi/Bloomberg News

The sale of MHPS to Konecranes is a positive catalyst on multiple fronts: shareholders got an attractive multiple for what historically has been a challenged business with further upside possible given 25% equity ownership in Konecranes, execution risk is diminished as new CEO can focus on operational improvement without the effort required to integrate the Terex and Konecranes businesses, and finally, the MHPS sale makes it easier for Zoomlion to acquire remaining Terex.

While our upgrade is not reliant on Zoomlion acquiring Terex, the MHPS transaction could make a firm Zoomlion offer more likely.

At the margin, a Zoomlion deal appears easier to get done: 1) the remaining businesses fit better with Zoomlions existing product portfolio of construction equipment, cranes, and various commercial and municipal equipment, 2) given the attractive terms of the MHPS sale, the funding hurdle required to acquire Terex is lowered, 3) many of the CFIUS issues center around national security concerns regarding the nations ports, no longer a concern given MHPS sale.

Dobre and Grabowski also raised their price target on Terex to $30, up from $24. With Terex off 0.1% at $24.88 today, that leaves 21% upside in the stock to Baird’s target.

In February, I wrote about Chinese demand for U.S. companies, including Terex.

Third and a trigger for the change: China becomes an active bidder in the space. Chinas Zoomlion bid for Terex (TEX) ($3.3B) along with Haier/General Electric (GE) ($5.4B) and several ChemChina proposed deals in industrials changes the upside/downside skew, particularly on lower quality/more challenged names. The Terex bid does not appear to be one-off. Chinese outbound M&A announcements rose to record highs in 15; to $112B (up 57% from 2014) in total acquisitions. Industrials formed a large and rising portion, at ~12B completed. Thats roughly equal to the 3 prior years industrials deals combined, and is the highest on record. Energy and materials accounted for ~15% of 15 spend vs. ~83% in 2011. Even lower quality or more currently challenged machinery franchises have distribution which could be highly attractive to new entrants…

The MSCI Emerging Markets Index is up 31 percent year-to-date and China, that benchmark's largest geographic weight, is a primary reason why. However, it is not just the most familiar Chinese stocks trading in Hong Kong and New York that are lifting emerging markets equities this year.

Up first on our list of potentially toxic trades is $98 billion healthcare stock GlaxoSmithKline plc (GSK) . GSK has actually been an attractive name to own lately. Shares are up about 10.6% since bottoming back in December, besting the S&P over that timeframe. But if you own GlaxoSmithKline, now’s the time to start thinking about taking some of those recent gains off the table — shares are looking “toppy” this spring.
