Top 5 Stocks For 2019

Most people have jobs. They faithfully go to work each morning, do their best to execute their duties, come home tired, and look forward to weekends and vacations.   They do this to make ends meet, hoping something better will come along. And better things do come now and then, along with setbacks. But the drudgery continues. Week in. Week out. Forty years pass. Life has been half miserable. But it's time for retirement.   Retirement means getting out of job jail. No more hated work. It's now time for relaxation and fun…   Just kidding!   As it turns out, retirement today is this: After giving up a fairly well-paid full-time job, you take on several poorly paid part-time jobs (without benefits) to pay for your ever-increasing retirement expenses.   But it doesn't have to be that way…   You can spare yourself the misery by ditching the job early on and replacing it with a career.

Top 5 Stocks For 2019: Suncor Energy Inc.(SU)

Advisors’ Opinion:

  • [By ]

Suncor Energy Inc. (SU) – “We expect modestly below-consensus results driven by
downtime and the ramp costs at Fort Hills. We still see a robust second-half 2018 and 2019 free cash flow story and would recommend investors look through any near-term
    noise.”

  • [By Matthew DiLallo]

Suncor Energy (NYSE:SU) has richly rewarded investors over the past year. Not only has the stock vastly outperformed both the S&P 500 and most other oil stocks, but it has returned a boatload of cash to shareholders through a higher dividend and share repurchases. Cash returns could rise some more in the coming months thanks two recently completed expansion projects and higher oil prices. These catalysts could be just the fuel this Canadian oil stock needs to continue outperforming.

Stay Away From Apple Component Players – Cramer’s Lightning Round (5/16/18)

Stocks discussed on the Lightning Round segment of Jim Cramer’s Mad Money Program, Wednesday, May 16.

Bullish Calls

Johnson & Johnson (NYSE:JNJ): Cramer has been a fan and still likes the stock.

Pure Storage (NYSE:PSTG): They are a smart management company.

Foot Locker (NYSE:FL): Cramer thinks it’s okay. He prefers Nike (NYSE:NKE) even though it’s at the 52-week high.

Insperity (NYSE:NSP): This “business optimization company”, as Cramer calls it, doesn’t quit and he has been recommending it for a long time.

Bearish Calls

Gulfport Energy (NASDAQ:GPOR): Don’t go down the food chain. Buy Schlumberger (NYSE:SLB) as it’s a high quality company.

Preferred Apartment Communities (NYSEMKT:APTS): Cramer is not a fan of multi-family REITs. The 7% yield seems like a red flag.

Cirrus Logic (NASDAQ:CRUS): “We’re not really recommending the components players that go into Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) right now. It’s just too hard.”

Frontline (NYSE:FRO): The crude carriers have done poorly.

“Real estate is an imperishable asset ever increasing in value. It is the most solid security that human ingenuity has devised.” — Russell Sage

Walt Disney (1901-66), the singular visionary genius who — more than anyone — transformed the business of entertainment in the 20th century, had legions of admirers over the decades. Among them is Steve Wynn, founder, CEO and guiding mastermind of his eponymous casino empire. In both public and private statements, Wynn has pointed to Disney’s core insight into the fine art of delighting consumers as what drives the management culture of his company until this day.

But for all his prescient brilliance, Disney did not fully apprehend the shower of millions his Disneyland theme park would have on the properties surrounding the Anaheim project. Neither did the very savvy Harrison Price of the Stamford Research Institute, who Disney commissioned to pick out the best possible location for his first theme park.

He acquired 160 acres of orange groves and walnut trees in the then-sleepy Orange County suburb of Anaheim, believing it would provide a huge enough footprint upon which to build his dream. And it did. What he didn’t really grasp was that the nearby land could still be picked up cheap if you were either a speculator or a motel company foreseeing more than day-trippers visiting the park. As a result, no sooner than Disneyland opened in July 1955 was the area blotted with construction projects for motels, hotels, restaurants and shopping centers whose primary claim to financial viability sprung from their proximity to Disneyland. Walt watched the parasite property owners grow rich and vowed never to repeat the mistake. And he didn’t.

Four ideas turned up in this screen that might be of interest (prices as of February 9th close):

Heron Therapeutics (NASDAQ:HRTX) by ONeil Trader – published February 3rd, 2017, $525M Market cap, down ~2% since publication, author’s price target offers 130% upside. HRTX isn’t a generic drug provider, but its CINV franchise vs. the growth of a new drug gives it a similar sort of profile, and arguably a favorable risk/reward; commenters were mostly positive on the thesis. VistaGen Therapeutics (OTC:VTGN) by Logical Assessment – published July 29, 2016, $24M market cap, down 16% since publication, author’s price target offers 100%+ upside. This is obviously deeper into the speculative pile, but if the author’s thesis holds about VistaGen’s unique angle in the antidepressant drug space, comparable deals suggest good upside. (Of course, it’s always dangerous to rely solely on comparables). Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories (NYSE:RDY) by Buddy Lyons – published July 5, 2016, $7.6B market cap, down ~13% since publication, author’s price target offers just shy of 100% upside. Dr. Reddy’s is a more obvious comparable to TEVA, with a generics business but also a manufacturing business and a proprietary products branch. The company bought a divestiture package of drugs from TEVA as part of the Allergan/Actavis deal. A big overhang was an FDA warning letter; the FDA is due to reinspect facilities this month or next, which could resolve that one way or another. Lannett (NYSEMKT:LCI) by Lateral Capital Management – published May 27, 2016, $750M market cap, down ~9% since publication, author’s price target offers 75% upside. LCI’s trading had been 90% correlated with Valeant, but Lateral Capital Management argues that the correlation is unjustified. The article does a deep dive into the company’s valuation and credit risk, and was well received at the time, even if the market hasn’t agreed…yet.

Wells Fargo analysts see a number of upside catalysts for The Allstate Corporation (ALL), plus a positive trend for automobile insurers as a whole. As such, the analysts upgraded the insurance provider on Thursday.

The analysts upgraded ALL from “Market Perform” to “Outperform” and boosted its valuation range from $48-$52 to $58-$62. This new valuation range suggests a 16% to 24% upside to the stock’s Wednesday closing price of $50.11.

“We are upgrading the shares of Allstate to Outperform from Market Perform on the basis of several fundamental reasons unique to the company as well as several positive, emerging structural trends for auto insurers in general,” Wells Fargo analyst John Hall stated. “We do not believe that the market has yet paid for potential unit growth within Allstate’s branded standard book of auto insurance, something we envision occurring over the next 6-12 months.”

As for some of the positive personal auto insurance sector trends, Hall noted, “These would include shifting demographics toward a safer driving population mix (more old drivers and fewer young drivers), changing driving habits particularly among millennials, a safer U.S. personal auto fleet, rising car sales pointing to positive symbol shift as well as industry conditions encouraging market share consolidation.”

Wells Fargo boosted Allstate’s 2013 EPS estimates from $4.62 to $4.85 and 2014 EPS estimates from $4.85 to $5.20.

Allstate shares were mostly flat during pre-market trading on Thursday. The stock is up 24.74% year-to-date.
