Top Performing Stocks To Buy For 2019

The hype around the growth of Apple Inc.’s services segment has been a major factor driving the rally in AAPL stock price. The impact on Apple’s earnings could be even more significant.
Flickr

Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) has been one of the top performers among S&P 500 companies. AAPL stock is up nearly 25% in the year-to-date, outperforming the S&P 500 (INDX:SPAL) by 18.5% over the period. The uptrend has gathered momentum in recent weeks, with Apple stock hitting its 5 new highs in March, and also moving above a $1000 pre-split price. A lot of the current momentum in AAPL shares has been attributed to the emergence of Apple’s services business, which accounted for just under 10% of the company’s overall revenue share in the last quarter, as a major growth driver. As we have covered in earlier posts, we believe that the ‘Services’ segment is a major catalyst for Apple Inc’s growth and, by extension, a major driver for AAPL stock. A deeper look into the fundamentals of the services business indicates that the segment could already be a significant contributor to Apple earnings. And, the rapid growth in the services business will reflect on Apple’s overall earnings, sooner or later.

Top Performing Stocks To Buy For 2019: (LVMUY)

Advisors’ Opinion:

  • [By Steve Symington]

Shares of Tiffany & Co. (NYSE:TIF) were down 9% as of 2:30 p.m. EDT Wednesday following concerning comments on growth in Japan and China from fellow luxury goods specialist LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton (NASDAQOTH:LVMUY). LVMH shares are also down 8% as of this writing.

  • [By ]

Two years ago, I discussed LVMH (OTCPK:LVMUY) (OTCPK:LVMHF) in another article here on Seeking Alpha. Although I wasn’t too impressed with the company’s free cash flow yield, I did agree this company deserved a premium valuation. And on top of that, I was expecting its strong growth results to continue in the years ahead. We’re now two years later, and LVMH has delivered on every front. Unfortunately the market caught up on that as well, and LVMH’s share price has doubled in just two years. And although the LVMH results justify a good performance of the share price, I do think LVMH is getting a little pricey.

  • [By Leo Sun]

At $126, Tiffany trades at about 27 times this year’s earnings estimate — which is a premium valuation relative to the midpoint of its forecast for 12% growth. LVMH (NASDAQOTH:LVMUY), which owns Tiffany’s rival (and Bogliolo’s former employer) Bulgari, trades at just 25 times this year’s earnings — and analysts expect its EPS to jump 16%. Bulgari, like Tiffany, is pivoting away from its “old world” charms toward edgier marketing campaigns that target younger shoppers.

  • [By Shane Hupp]

LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton (OTCMKTS:LVMUY) was upgraded by ValuEngine from a “hold” rating to a “buy” rating in a research report issued on Saturday.

  • [By Leo Sun]

Second, Farfetch faces competition from a wide range of diversified online marketplaces and first-party direct-to-consumer channels. For example, LVMH (NASDAQOTH:LVMUY), the biggest luxury company in the world, recently launched 24 Sèvres, an online version of Paris’ high-end department store Le Bon Marché. 24 Sèvres offers personal shoppers via video chat, two-day free deliveries, and other perks.

  • [By ]

Ferrari may be a carmaker but its valuation is more similar to those of luxury powerhouses like LVMH (OTCPK:LVMUY), Kering (OTCPK:PPRUY) or Richemont (OTCPK:CFRUY) than those of fellow car companies like former parent FCA or Germany’s Daimler (OTCPK:DDAIF), BMW (OTCPK:BMWYY) or Volkswagen (OTCPK:VLKAY). No other automotive brand, luxury or volume, can compete with Ferrari’s operative EBIT margin of 22.69 percent and EBITDA margin of 30.3 percent for the full year 2017 (the runner-up being Volkswagen-owned Porsche with a margin of 17.6 percent for 2017). In my eyes, this is further proof of the fact that a Ferrari is not primarily a car but a luxury product. It just happens to be a luxury product that presents itself in the form of a car. The overwhelming majority of cars are purchased out of necessity. Even a premium product like a Mercedes-Benz or a BMW will in most cases remain a tool of transportation above everything else – although I could imagine that some of my fellow countrymen from Germany would fiercely disagree with me on this. No one, however, needs a Ferrari. Please note that I allow myself to exclude needs of the ego from my definition of necessity here. Still, Ferraris are in high demand. That is because customers don’t buy them because they need but because they want them. It is this passion that ensures the company’s success. It is noteworthy that at Ferrari revenue (+10 percent in 2017; +11.2 percent currency-adjusted) increases at a significantly faster pace than shipments (+4.8 percent in 2017) do. This underlines the business’s pricing power.

Top 5 Safest Stocks To Invest In 2019

Companies hate to cut dividends. Knowing the backlash they’ll get from stockholders, many executives and board members consider it a desperate act of last resort. They will halt non-discretionary expenditures, reduce payroll and overhead, and even take on debt in order to maintain distributions.

And that’s exactly why dividend hikes send such a strong bullish signal. A company wouldn’t bump quarterly payouts to $0.60 per share from $0.50 unless it were fairly certain that incoming cash flows would be more than sufficient to cover the higher dividend, with room to spare. The last thing they want is to raise it today only to lower back down tomorrow. A dividend hike is a clear vote of confidence for future success.

Top 5 Safest Stocks To Invest In 2019: Sempra Energy(SRE)

Advisors’ Opinion:

  • [By Tyler Crowe]

Sempra Energy’s (NYSE:SRE) acquisition of Oncor was a bit of a coup on Wall Street, as it was able to outbid Berkshire Hathaway for the Texas utility. The victory didn’t come cheap, though, as Sempra had to cough up $9.5 billion and take on quite a bit of debt in the process of completing the deal. Even though the company sees immense potential in the purchase and the growth opportunities that come with it, shares of Sempra have been mostly flat for the past year.

That could sound intriguing if you’ve caught the gold bug, but it’s important to remember the risks involved when investing in the industry. Luckily, some gold stocks come with big red flags and flashing red lights. Here’s why investors might want to avoid Hecla Mining (NYSE:HL), Tahoe Resources (NYSE:TAHO), and Randgold Resources (NASDAQ:GOLD).

Foxconn’s plan to create thousands of jobs in Wisconsin is moving right along.

The $3 billion package of incentives that Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker promised to the company was approved by the state Assembly last week. It’s now under consideration by the Senate Joint Finance Committee, which will hold a hearing on Tuesday.

CEO Terry Gou announced in July that Foxconn will invest $10 billion to build a new manufacturing plant in House Speaker Paul Ryan’s district.

The facility, which will produce LCD panels, is expected to create between 3,000 and 13,000 new jobs and should be up and running by 2020.

But the dollar value of Walker’s incentives package has caused some controversy in Wisconsin.

If the state legislature gives its okay, the annual payout would be between $200 million and $250 million, according to the state’s main development agency.

That translates to between $15,000 and $19,000 state dollars per job per year, if 13,000 jobs are actually created. That’s six times the typical cost per job you’d see in a public incentive package for a manufacturer, according to Timothy Bartik, an economist at the W.E. Upjohn Institute for Employment Research.

Gold mining stocks were also lower, with Randgold Resources (GOLD) falling around 1.5% and Fresnillo Plc (FNLPF) slipping 0.85%. Randgold’s 10.66% advance over the past three months, however, has nearly doubled that of spot gold prices while Fresnillo’s 15.82% rise is nearly three times higher than the bullion’s gain over the same period.

Thus we are still extremely cautious in gold as we are a bit worried about next week’s job report being positive and knocking gold down, but we maintain our core positions in gold. But we aren’t looking to re-establish any of our sold gold and silver positions just yet until we see more of a pullback in the metals or a bad jobs report and thus we think investors should hold off or lighten up on gold positions in the ETF’s and miners such as the SPDR Gold Trust ETF (NYSEARCA:GLD), ETFS Physical Swiss Gold Trust ETF (NYSEARCA:SGOL), iShares Silver Trust (NYSEARCA:SLV), and miners such as Randgold (GOLD) and Barrick Gold (NYSE:ABX).

On Tuesday, our Under the Radar Moversnewsletter suggested shorting small cap footwear retailer DSW Inc (NYSE: DSW):

The chart speaks for itself. DSW is making lower lows this month after failing to cross back above the 100-day and 200-day moving average lines (gray and green) last month. What you can’t quite see on our close-up chart is that DSW has been in a downtrend since 2014, and it doesn’t appear to be letting up.

Our Under the Radar Moversnewsletterwould have a further discussion about DSW Incs technical chart along with a shorting strategy:

Small cap DSW Inc is a leading branded shoes and accessories retailer that offers a wide selection of brand name and designer shoes and accessories for women, men, and kids. As of March 23, 2017, Designer Shoe Warehouse operates 504 stores in 43 states and operates an e-commerce site, www.dsw.com, and a mobile website, m.dsw.com. penny stock exchange: Phillips 66(PSX)

Advisors’ Opinion:

  • [By Matthew DiLallo]

After facing several challenges last year, Phillips 66 (NYSE:PSX) enjoyed a bit of a bounce back in the first quarter. The refiner delivered expectation-smashing results, reporting an adjusted profit of $294 million, or $0.56 per share, which was a remarkable $0.51 per share ahead of the consensus estimate. Fueling the quarter were robust chemicals results and improving midstream earnings, which more than overcame continued weakness in the refining segment.

  • [By Paul Ausick]

Phillips 66 (NYSE: PSX) said on Saturday that its operated Pasadena refined products terminal resumed truck loading and diesel loading is set to begin Sunday. Activities at the Mont Belvieu fractionator has been suspended due to a lack of available storage at the Mont Belvieu hub. The company is checking its Sweeny refinery (247,000 barrels a day) for damage and making repairs before resuming operations.
