Top 10 Cheap Stocks To Buy Right Now

People are scared. And in some ways, they’re especially scared when they use their computers.

This has made cybersecurity stocks one of the hot sectors of 2018.

Cybersecurity, however, is a fast-moving business. Breakthroughs happen constantly. New niches develop. Investment must be constant, and failure is not an option. A company’s reputation is everything.

These stocks are not cheap. Even the “cheapest” can sell for 10 times the previous year’s sales. This means that, ironically, when investors lose their appetite for risk, even the best-run cybersecurity stocks can fall in price.

With all those caveats in place, and knowing that our Will Healy recently listed three great names in cloud security, I’m here to offer you three other security names that are also worthy of attention

Top 10 Cheap Stocks To Buy Right Now: Emerson Electric Company(EMR)

Advisors’ Opinion:

  • [By Lee Samaha]

However, analysts are right to question Rockwell’s relative valuation, because peer Emerson Electric (NYSE:EMR) has outgrown Rockwell in the past three quarters. The difference is that Emerson is more of a process automation company and has more exposure to capital spending of energy and heavy industry-related companies, which are growing faster than Rockwell’s end markets. The latter is more of a factory automation company and has more general industrial exposure, notably to the automotive industry.

In PMT, Honeywell’s process-solutions rival Emerson Electric (NYSE:EMR) continues to report strong results. But whereas Emerson’s CEO David Farr is expecting to benefit from relatively stronger LNG (liquefied natural gas) spending in the current cycle, Honeywell’s LNG revenue accounts for just 5% of its PMT sales, and it’s more heavily exposed to petrochemical and refining spending.

Friday was a good day on Wall Street, as positive news on the domestic political front spurred market participants to send stock benchmarks to substantial gains. Earnings season has reached its peak, but overall, investors have been a lot more comfortable with the idea that sustained economic growth could last further into 2019 than they were during the stock market’s swoon in December. Nevertheless, not every company was able to find success during a tough period. Newell Brands (NYSE:NWL), TrueCar (NASDAQ:TRUE), and XPO Logistics (NYSE:XPO) were among the worst performers. Here’s why they did so poorly.

Throughout its history, Starbucks has mostly had a company-owned model for its retail locations, a strategy that is at odds with a trend of activist investors pushing fast food, restaurant and coffee companies to franchise locations out to raise cash for stock buybacks and debt reduction. In recent years, activists have targeted Jamba Juice (JMBA) , Potbelly (PBPB) , Jack in the Box (JACK) , Wendys Co. (WEN) , McDonald’s (MCD) and elsewhere. In addition, Starbucks has a one-share, one-vote structure, which can make it vulnerable to an activist investor seeking to elect dissident director candidates as it pursued the strategy.

  • [By Mac Greer]

He still has 29% of the company, he’s still plastered on the pizza boxes and the marketing — although, that’s really been pulled back. Then, it’s also come out this week that Wendy’s (NASDAQ:WEN) and Papa John’s, before all of this stuff came up over the past couple of months, they’re actually in talks to have some sort of merger. Going forward, if you’re the board of directors at Papa John’s, I think you have to really consider that possibility. Maybe the best step forward for the company is to look for a merger or a sale, because, man, this seems like a train wreck that keeps accelerating. When you have Schnatter on the board, he would have to be in favor of a buyout or a merger for it to go through.

Wendy’s (NASDAQ:WEN)‘s stock had its “buy” rating reiterated by equities researchers at Argus in a research note issued to investors on Thursday. They currently have a $16.34 price target on the restaurant operator’s stock, down from their prior price target of $19.00.

Monday was a weak day for the stock market, with most major benchmarks losing ground. Further concerns about the potential for a deepening divide between the U.S. and China weighed on sentiment, and some also fear that steadily rising interest rates could eventually put pressure on stocks. • [By Michael A. Robinson]

I confess: I’d always hated IBM Corp. (NYSE: IBM); never could stand Big Blue. The company was always too unfocused for my taste.

Its boardroom underwhelmed, too, allowing Microsoft Corp. (Nasdaq: MSFT) and Amazon.com Inc. (Nasdaq: AMZN) to outmaneuver and shut it out of the outrageously lucrative cloud.

Value traps are stocks that appear to be cheap based on a traditional metric, such as a P/E ratio but, in reality, are not because of declining business prospects. Even the world’s best investors, like Warren Buffett, have been known to fall for value traps. For instance, in 2011, Warren Buffett initiated a position in IBM (NYSE:IBM) that would soon grow into one of his largest, a $10 billion stake. At the time Buffett made his investment, IBM was guiding for $20 in EPS by 2015, which would have represented 74% growth from 2010’s EPS of $11.52. IBM never came close to hitting this guidance, however, even with all the share repurchases money could buy.

General Dynamics (NYSE:GD) beat earnings in its fourth quarter of 2018 — not that you could tell from the performance of its stock, which remains 2% below where it traded before earnings, nearly a month after the fact.

Strategic Wealth Partners Ltd. reduced its position in shares of General Dynamics Co. (NYSE:GD) by 20.0% during the 2nd quarter, HoldingsChannel.com reports. The firm owned 6,099 shares of the aerospace company’s stock after selling 1,521 shares during the period. Strategic Wealth Partners Ltd.’s holdings in General Dynamics were worth $1,137,000 at the end of the most recent quarter.

Only 10% of the companies on the list had female CEOs at the helm, four of which — Hewlett Packard (HP) , Lockheed Martin (LMT) , General Motors (GM) , and General Dynamics (GD) — grew significant revenue in five years or less.

  • [By Lee Jackson]

This company, like other major defense prime contractors, had a very solid year and is also on the Merrill Lynch US 1 list. General Dynamics Corp. (NYSE: GD) is engaged in business aviation, land and expeditionary combat vehicles and systems, armaments, munitions, shipbuilding and marine systems, and information systems and technologies.

  • [By Rich Smith]

Five years ago, General Dynamics (NYSE:GD) was struck by disaster.

Years of acquisitions in the IT space, designed to turn the defense giant best known for its battle tanks and nuclear submarines into a cybersecurity specialist, had failed to produce significant profit growth. Instead, realizing that it had overpaid for its new subsidiaries, General D acknowledged its mistake, took a $2.9 billion charge to earnings, fired its IT division head (or allowed him to retire “to pursue new professional opportunities”), and reported only its second full-year net loss in the last 30 years.

  • [By Lou Whiteman]

For investors looking to put new money to work in a defense prime today, I’d recommend General Dynamics (NYSE:GD) over either Raytheon or Northrop Grumman. General Dynamics currently trades at a 20% discount to its rivals on a price-to-earnings basis and at a 13% discount on a price-to-sales basis due to continued weakness in its business jet division. There’s more risk to General Dynamics, but there is also more potential upside should it get its aerospace business on track and close that valuation gap.

Warren Buffett likes to hold his stock positions for the long run, and his experience with USG (NYSE:USG) has been typical of his other long-term investments. The Oracle of Omaha started buying shares of the manufacturer of Sheetrock drywall and other building materials back in 2000, accumulating a sizable stake that has ballooned to more than 30% of the company. USG ended up going through bankruptcy in order to get a handle on its asbestos liability claims, but thanks largely to Buffett’s involvement, the building materials company not only survived bankruptcy but also saw share prices soar briefly on hopes that USG would once again fully participate in the then-strong housing boom.

Hot Cheap Stocks To Invest In 2019

A value trap is like quicksand for your money.

First your money gets stuck… Then it slowly sinks (in value).

History has shown that buying cheap stocks gives you better returns than buying expensive stocks over the long term. But in order to get those returns, you have to be sure that "cheap" is not a permanent state of affairs.

If it is, you won't be getting the return you expect. And you might not get any return at all. Your money will just be stuck… and slowly sink in value.

Today, I'll discuss how to know if a stock is really cheap… or if it's just a value trap.

Whether a stock is cheap or expensive depends on its valuation… not on the share price itself.

A stock that trades for only $1 can be expensive if it trades at a high valuation. And a $100 stock can be cheap if it trades at a low valuation.

Hot Cheap Stocks To Invest In 2019: Sirius XM Radio Inc.(SIRI)

Advisors’ Opinion:

  • [By Rick Munarriz]

Shares of Sirius XM Holdings (NASDAQ:SIRI) hit a new 12-year high of $7.08 this week, and in terms of market cap the satellite radio provider has never been as valuable as it is right now. The market darling hasn’t traded this high since late 2005, and it’s fair to say that this was an entirely different company back then. Sirius had yet to merge with XM. The share count was substantially lower.

  • [By Jim Crumly]

Two merger situations that have been the subject of discussion for months were in the news today, with Comcast (NASDAQ:CMCSA) winning an auction for Sky and Sirius XM Radio (NASDAQ:SIRI) and Pandora Media (NYSE:P) agreeing to a merger.

Shares of Sirius XM Holdings (NASDAQ:SIRI) hit another 12-year high on Monday. The country’s lone satellite radio provider would go on to improve its fundamentals, announcing that it’s laying to rest a pending legal matter by settling with SoundExchange.

  • [By Rick Munarriz]

Will the last Sirius XM Holdings (NASDAQ:SIRI) short leaving the room please turn off the lights? The number of shares betting on a decline in the satellite radio provider’s stock price has fallen to its lowest level in more than a year, and it’s easy to wonder if the security that courted naysayers by the truckload when it was a speculative penny stock will ever be a hotbed for pessimism again.

  • [By Motley Fool Staff]

In this segment from MarketFoolery, host Chris Hill, Motley Fool One’s Jason Moser, and Stock Advisor Canada’s Taylor Muckerman consider an individual case of a common question for investors: When you have a stock that has become a big winner, should you hold on tight until you need the money, or sell to lock in some profits, and reinvest them elsewhere? There’s certainly no single right answer, but the question is always a good one to ask. The response depends on the context of the individual company, so the Fools tailor their take this time to the outlook for Sirius XM (NASDAQ:SIRI).

Cramer and Moreno also looked at General Dynamics (GD) which peaked in early March, before starting a downtrend until Tuesday. Last week, General Dynamics fell to the lower end of its channel, but then it bounced right to the high end, and Wednesday it firmly broke out above the high end of this channel. The stochastic oscillator, which is a powerful momentum indicator is making a bullish crossover, and based on today’s move, Moreno thinks General Dynamics can return to its old highs at $230.

Scale matters in the government IT business, as larger companies are better able to manage the increasingly large and complex systems customers demand, and a broader cost basis helps in putting together low-cost, competitive bids. In recent years, a wave of mergers and acquisitions has left a clear top two in the market. Industry leader Leidos Holdings (NYSE:LDOS) in 2016 bought the IT business of Lockheed Martin, while General Dynamics (NYSE:GD) vaulted to No. 2 earlier this year via its acquisition of CSRA.

Monday was a weak day for the stock market, with most major benchmarks losing ground. Further concerns about the potential for a deepening divide between the U.S. and China weighed on sentiment, and some also fear that steadily rising interest rates could eventually put pressure on stocks. Yet some companies still had good news that sent their individual shares higher. Rent-A-Center (NASDAQ:RCII), PTC Therapeutics (NASDAQ:PTCT), and Dropbox (NASDAQ:DBX) were among the best performers on the day. Here’s why they did so well.

Hot Cheap Stocks To Invest In 2019: Kohl’s Corporation(KSS)

Advisors’ Opinion:

  • [By Rich Duprey]

This isn’t even the first time Sears has paired itself with Amazon, agreeing last year to sell its Kenmore brand directly on the site. This put it on par with retailers like Best Buy, Calvin Klein, Chico’s FAS, Kohl’s (NYSE:KSS), and Nike in seeking to ride the e-tailer’s coattails to higher sales.

  • [By JJ Kinahan]

Retailers sagged Tuesday, weighed down in part by a 6 percent drop in shares of Kohl’s Corporation (NYSE: KSS). The KSS losses came as something of a surprise considering the company’s solid earnings results first thing Tuesday morning, but then the earnings conference call began and the mood quickly changed. In the call, KSS attributed much of the company’s good sales to an early Mother’s Day marketing promotion. What doesn’t give Wall Street happiness is when you say something positive was a one-time event. It may not be exactly what the company meant, but the call did appear to take a lot of the pop out of what was a pretty nice earnings story.

  • [By JJ Kinahan]

Adding to positive sentiment, Kohl’s Corporatrion (NYSE: KSS) reported better-than-expected earnings and revenue, and same-store sales were up 3.6 percent. It’s interesting that the company was able to do this despite wintery weather, particularly in areas where Kohl’s stores are concentrated. The company’s  shares were up more than 5 percent in premarket trading.

Kohl’s Corp. (NYSE: KSS) reported fourth-quarter and full-year 2018 results before markets opened Tuesday morning. The department store retailer reported quarterly adjusted diluted earnings per share (EPS) of $2.24 on total revenues of $6.82 billion. In the fourth quarter of 2017, the company reported EPS of $1.87 on revenue of $7.06 billion. Fourth-quarter results also compare to the Thomson Reuters consensus estimates for EPS of $2.18 and $6.58 billion in revenue.

Top 5 Cheap Stocks To Buy Right Now

Investors have neglected consumer goods giant General Mills, Inc. (NYSE:GIS) for a long time. But I think it is time to start paying attention to General Mills stock.

This is a defensive name in a consumer goods market with enduring demand. The company has a massive moat, a dirt-cheap valuation, a big dividend and growth prospects that are starting to turn around.

Meanwhile, the rest of the market has growth prospects that are starting to erode.

Over the past several years, hyper-growth tech stocks like Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB), Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN), Netflix, Inc. (NASDAQ:NFLX) and Alphabet Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) have led the S&P 500 to massive gains.

But this bull market is now 10 years old. And cracks are starting to show up in the foundation supporting the bull thesis. From Facebook’s data breach to Netflix and Amazon’s triple-digit earnings multiples to Google’s big fines, there are certainly reasons to be worried about the longevity of this bull market.

Top 5 Cheap Stocks To Buy Right Now: Express-1 Expedited Solutions Inc.(XPO)

Advisors’ Opinion:

  • [By Daniel Miller]

Unfortunately, there’s no crystal ball for investors to see into the future — otherwise investing would be so much easier. Predicting how businesses and trends will play out over the coming years can be difficult, but Activision Blizzard (NASDAQ:ATVI) and XPO Logistics (NYSE:XPO) seem well-positioned to thrive over the next decade. One is benefiting from a rise in esports, the other from ever-increasing e-commerce deliveries.

  • [By Matthew Frankel, Neha Chamaria, and Matthew DiLallo]

While there’s no way to know for sure which stocks will become the next Amazon, three of our contributors think BofI Holding (NASDAQ:BOFI), XPO Logistics (NYSE:XPO), and iQiyi (NASDAQ:IQ) have pretty good chances.

So we asked that question to three top Motley Fool investors. Read on to learn why they put New Relic (NYSE:NEWR), XPO Logistics (NYSE:XPO), and Ebay (NASDAQ:EBAY) on their short lists of stocks capable of outperforming a five-bagger.

  • [By Motley Fool Staff]

By following an aggressive acquisition strategy known as a rollup, XPO Logistics (NYSE:XPO) has grown its revenue by 100 times in recent years.

In the following segment from Industry Focus: Energy, Motley Fool Asset Management’s Bill Barker and host Nick Sciple discuss how Barker discovered XPO, the advantages and risks of a rollup strategy, and the basics of XPO’s business.

  • [By Dan Caplinger]

The holiday season is typically a busy one for XPO Logistics (NYSE:XPO). With the rise of e-commerce, it’s more important than ever to have efficient ways of getting goods where they need to go, and XPO has played a key role in helping to facilitate that movement. However, XPO has been dealing with some issues affecting one of its major customers, and that could have long-lasting negative impacts on its growth potential.

Top 5 Cheap Stocks To Buy Right Now: Sirius XM Radio Inc.(SIRI)

Advisors’ Opinion:

  • [By Mac Greer]

In today’s episode of Market Foolery, host Mac Greer and Motley Fool contributor Matt Argersinger hit on a few of the market’s biggest stories. Sirius XM (NASDAQ:SIRI) announced plans to acquire Pandora (NYSE:P), finally putting an end to a real bummer of an era for Pandora shareholders. Comcast (NASDAQ:CMCSA) offered a massive bid for Sky, while Disney (NYSE:DIS) positioned itself exactly where it wants to be with regard to that.

  • [By Motley Fool Staff]

The latest earnings report from satellite radio monopoly Sirius XM (NASDAQ:SIRI) had to please its shareholders, especially given that it delivered record revenue for the period. But as it continues its integration of Pandora, which it acquired last year, there remain some questions, particularly about what is in store for the company in the post-Howard Stern era. (The iconic shock jock’s contract includes only a couple more years of him as a on-air personality.)

  • [By Rick Munarriz]

We’re now more than a year removed from when Sirius XM Radio (NASDAQ:SIRI) abandoned plans to buy Pandora outright, taking a minority stake instead. Now that streaming stocks in general and Pandora in particular are hot again, it wouldn’t be a surprise if Sirius XM or any tech giant wanting an audience of more than 70 million streaming accounts snaps up Pandora.

  • [By Rick Munarriz]

If Sirius XM Holdings (NASDAQ:SIRI) and Spotify (NYSE:SPOT) were playing a concert, it wouldn’t be easy to decide which one is the headliner and which one has to settle for being the opening act. The two music services draw tens of millions of premium subscribers apiece, but each company is singing in a different key.

  • [By ]

Remember, Apple (AAPL) had run because its service-revenue stream made the tech giant part of an elite group of companies. It joined Costco (COST) , Netflix (NFLX) , and SiriusXM (SIRI) , Spotify (SPOT) and Amazon (AMZN) (home of Amazon Prime) as companies that charge you recurring fees that you don’t seem to notice or care about. So, Apple’s stock no longer represents the tug to the group, and each company has to develop a separate power base away from Cupertino.

  • [By Evan Niu, CFA]

In happier news, Sirius XM (NASDAQ:SIRI) finally acquired Pandora (NYSE:P). Tune in to find out what this deal will mean for shareholders, what these companies are trying to achieve by joining forces, and why some analysts and investors are skeptical.

General Dynamics Corp. (NYSE: GD) dropped about 2.1% Thursday to post a new 52-week low of $187.32. Shares closed at $191.40 on Wednesday and the stock’s 52-week high is $230.00. Volume was 25% higher than the daily average of around 1.6 million. The defense giant had no specific news.

Shipbuilding and services specialist Huntington Ingalls (NYSE:HII) was spun off from Northup Grumman in early 2011. General Dynamics (NYSE:GD) is roughly six times larger and offers a far more diversified list of products and services that includes submarines, aircraft, and armored vehicles, among other things. Both, however, provide key products and services to the U.S. military. That’s normally a fairly consistent business driven by large and often very long contracts. With a supportive administration in the White House, it would seem like now is a good time to take a look at this pair of stocks. But which of these two military-industrial companies is a better buy? Using a Benjamin Graham lens, the answer may not be what you want to hear.

Contractors including Lockheed Martin (NYSE:LMT), Northrop Grumman (NYSE:NOC), General Dynamics (NYSE:GD), and Raytheon (NYSE:RTN) have been richly rewarded over the last two years. This is another top burger chain that constantly fights for market share through promotional efforts. Wendy’s Co. (NYSE: WEN) is the third largest hamburger quick service restaurant chain. The company is trying to reinforce its historical brand positioning as a premium quick service restaurant brand through major remodels and product differentiation. Wendy’s is increasing its franchise mix and trying to restart unit growth in North America and internationally, where the brand has very little presence.

Wendy’s (NASDAQ:WEN) major shareholder Edward P. Garden sold 764,000 shares of the business’s stock in a transaction dated Tuesday, May 15th.

Hot Cheap Stocks To Watch Right Now

I’ve been skeptical about Twitter (NYSE:TWTR) stock for some time now. Admittedly, even though TWTR stock has been range-bound since late July, I’ve been too skeptical towards it, as Twitter stock has rallied over the last two years, roughly doubling during that period.

As I wrote in December, the gains of Twitter stock have been deserved, at least to some extent. The company’s total user base (as represented by MAUs, or monthly active users) hasn’t grown much. But its engagement is up, as shown by increases in its DAUs (daily active users). And Twitter has become a better, more valuable partner for advertisers.

Yet that success hasn’t done much for TWTR stock of late. Its Q3 earnings, which were reported in October, sent Twitter stock soaring. Yet a 10% decline after the Q4 release earlier this month wiped out most of those gains. Twitter stock now actually is down 7.4% over the past twelve months.

There’s one big reason why: valuation. TWTR looked hugely expensive at $45 in June, but even at $31, where it currently trades, it’s not exactly cheap. And with Twitter’s earnings growth likely to be muted in 2019, it’s tough to see how concerns about its valuation will ease any time soon.

Stocks to Watch Today: KHC, HD, JWN, M, AAPL
Kraft Heinz Co. (NYSE: KHC) is still licking its wounds after an abysmal earnings report on Thursday and a weak 2019 outlook. The consumer goods giant is looking to reshape its business as consumer tastes continue to evolve. According to reports, the firm – backed heavily by Warren Buffett’s Berkshire Hathaway Inc. (NYSE: BRK.A) – is considering a deal to sell its Maxwell House brand. Warren Buffett is also affecting shares of Apple Inc. (NASDAQ: AAPL). Although AAPL stock added 0.4% in pre-market hours, Buffett said he would not purchase more shares of the company stock at these levels. However, should AAPL stock pull back in the near future, the “Oracle of Omaha” would consider purchasing more. Sciple: That will be our first look at how any of these companies was affected by the shutdown. We had a lot of defense contractors reporting earnings in this past week. Lockheed Martin (NYSE:LMT), General Dynamics (NYSE:GD), Raytheon (NYSE:RTN), Northrop (NYSE:NOC). Of course, those numbers are not embracing a significant chunk of the government shutdown. However, they did give relatively muted guidance looking out into next year. Can you talk about that a little bit?

  • [By Lou Whiteman]

Shares of General Dynamics (NYSE:GD) and Northrop Grumman (NYSE:NOC) have both more than doubled over the past five years, thanks to a truce in the partisan Washington budget battles and increased demand from an ever more dangerous world. But both stocks head into earnings season in the doldrums, with Northrop Grumman flat for the year and General Dynamics actually down 5%.

General Dynamics (NYSE:GD) had its price objective reduced by stock analysts at Royal Bank of Canada from $232.00 to $12.39 in a research report issued on Friday, The Fly reports. Hot Cheap Stocks To Watch Right Now: Sirius XM Radio Inc.(SIRI)

Advisors’ Opinion:

It didn’t take long for Sirius XM Holdings (NASDAQ:SIRI) to start leveraging its Pandora (NYSE:P) acquisition. Less than a week after closing on its purchase of the streaming-music pioneer in a roughly $3 billion deal, Sirius XM sent out an email offer to its satellite-radio subscribers for a free 14-day trial to Pandora’s premium platform.

  • [By Rick Munarriz]

One of this year’s best comeback stories is falling into the arms of its most logical partner. Pandora (NYSE:P) is being acquired by Sirius XM Radio (NASDAQ:SIRI) in an all-stock deal that is currently valued at roughly $3.5 billion. Pandora investors will receive 1.44 newly issued shares of Sirius XM for every share they presently own. Sirius XM closed at $6.98 on Friday, translating into a buyout price of $10.05 per share.

  • [By Sean Williams]

Another no-brainer acquisition that would make sense for Buffett and Berkshire Hathaway is satellite radio operator Sirius XM Holdings (NASDAQ:SIRI). It’s worth pointing out that Berkshire Hathaway already owns 137.92 million shares of Sirius XM, or about 2.9% of all outstanding shares.

  • [By Rick Munarriz]

At least one bull is growing more bullish on Sirius XM Holdings (NASDAQ:SIRI). Bank of America/Merrill Lynch analyst Jessica Reif just boosted her share price target on the satellite radio giant from $7 to $8. She’s encouraged by the healthy pace of new car sales in the country — the lifeblood of Sirius, as new vehicles put it in front of potential new subscribers.

  • [By Rick Munarriz]

The disruptor doesn’t always win over the disrupted. Critics have been knocking Sirius XM Holdings (NASDAQ:SIRI) for years, calling the premium satellite-radio platform a transitory technology. Bears argue that folks paying for satellite radio now will eventually figure out that smartphones seamlessly paired up with their connected cars will deliver a wider realm of high-end audio entertainment for a lot less than their monthly Sirius XM ransoms.

Top 10 Cheap Stocks To Buy For 2019

Shares of construction materials leader Eagle Materials (NYSE:EXP) set new all-time highs earlier this year, although the stock’s recent surge was catalyzed by the announcement of fiscal second-quarter 2017 results in late October. At the time, the company set record revenues and more than doubled earnings per share from the prior-year period. That was followed by a new high watermark for quarterly sales in the fiscal third quarter of 2017, which ended in December, marking the third consecutive quarter in which record revenue was established.

Considering the impressive backstory, it’s not surprising that Eagle Materials stock soared 60% in 2016. What may be surprising is that the stock still looks cheap. Moreover, management has demonstrated a consistent track record in delivering value to shareholders over the long term through its focus on growth from acquisitions and improving operational efficiency. Continuing that long-standing strategy bodes well for success in 2017 and beyond.

Top 10 Cheap Stocks To Buy For 2019: International Business Machines Corporation(IBM)

Advisors’ Opinion:

  • [By JJ Kinahan]

After the close yesterday, “Big Blue,” otherwise known as IBM (NYSE: IBM), reported earnings per share of $2.45, beating Wall Street analysts’ consensus estimate of $2.40. Revenue of $19.1 billion beat the third-party consensus view of $18.7 billion, marking the second-straight quarter of year-over-year revenue growth after a more than five-year-stretch of revenue losses. However, a decline in gross margin led some analysts to conclude IBM's shift from legacy hardware and software businesses to cloud computing and "big data" — higher-margin businesses — is not happening fast enough. IBM shares fell over 5 percent in aftermarket trading.

  • [By Matthew Frankel, CFP®, Neha Chamaria, and Matthew DiLallo]

International Business Machines (NYSE:IBM) does pay a nice 4.3% dividend yield, but isn’t a great choice for everyone. It faces some pretty big challenges going forward, such as increasing competition and the pricing pressure it creates. In fact, even dividend-loving Warren Buffett decided to unload Berkshire Hathaway’s (NYSE: BRK-A) (NYSE: BRK-B) massive IBM stake recently.

  • [By Leo Sun]

That’s why it wasn’t surprising when Synergy Research recently reported that Alibaba was now the fourth largest public cloud services provider in the world after Amazon (NASDAQ:AMZN), Microsoft (NASDAQ:MSFT), and Alphabet’s (NASDAQ:GOOG) (NASDAQ:GOOGL) Google, in that order. However, it was surprising that Alibaba surpassed IBM (NYSE:IBM), which slipped to fifth place.

Earnings season may be winding down, but concerns about the U.S. brick-and-mortar retail industry are always high. This week, Home Depot Inc. (NYSE: HD), Nordstrom Inc. (NYSE: JWN), and Macy’s Inc. Top 10 Cheap Stocks To Buy For 2019: Sirius XM Radio Inc.(SIRI)

Advisors’ Opinion:

  • [By Mac Greer]

Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) reported on its fiscal fourth quarter on Wednesday, and while revenue and operating profits were down, it did beat its outlook. Unsurprisingly, CEO Tim Cook pointed to China’s economic slowdown and Washington’s trade war as the causes of lower iPhone sales, but on the earnings call, he also talked through a bigger-picture evolutionary story that could generate some optimism about the company and the stock. Elsewhere in the investing world, satellite radio monopoly Sirius XM (NASDAQ:SIRI) reported a quarter of record revenue — but that company, too, is more focused on what’s ahead.

  • [By Jim Royal]

Fresh off news that it was buying Pandora Media (NYSE:P), Sirius XM (NASDAQ:SIRI) slumped 8% early on Monday. It’s the cheapest the stock has been in months, and investors seemed to jeer the all-stock deal. But if history is any guide, it’s a bad bet to go against superinvestor John Malone, whose Liberty empire controls Sirius XM.

  • [By Rick Munarriz]

It’s been a long time since the pessimism has been this thick when it comes to Sirius XM Holdings (NASDAQ:SIRI), judging by the number of people betting against the satellite radio provider. Sirius XM kicked off this month with nearly 275.5 million shares sold short, its highest tally on that front in more than a year.

  • [By Rick Munarriz]

It’s been a bumpy few weeks for Sirius XM Holdings (NASDAQ:SIRI) since the stock peaked at $7.70 last month. We’ve seen a pair of analyst downgrades on valuation concerns. And the shares kicked off this week trading 8% lower than their mid-June highs despite the general market inching slightly higher in that time.

The $3 billion competition, which includes management and maintenance of a range of navy and marine networks, will pit Perspecta against two of the largest government IT vendors, Leidos Holdings (NYSE:LDOS) and the recently bulked-up IT arm of General Dynamics (NYSE:GD). This is a business where scale is vitally important, potentially putting Perspecta in a difficult position.

A long time ago, when I was in college, I actually bought Wendy’s (NASDAQ:WEN) stock on the thesis that Baja Fresh, which they owned at the time, was the next hot concept, and way better than Chipotle. Now, you fast forward a couple of years, Baja Fresh basically was worthless to Wendy’s. Chipotle had gone on to be the winner in the burrito space. Obviously since reverted to the mean. But, made a lot of money on Wendy’s because of Tim Horton’s. They also own Tim Hortons, and Tim Hortons is growing crazy for them, they’re growing all across Canada and the U.S.
