This rapid growth in legal pot has create quite the demand for marijuana stocks. The seven largest marijuana stocks by market cap have all put on a show over the past couple of years. Here are those seven “green giants” listed with their market caps as of March 17, 2017, along with their trailing one-year total returns.

GW Pharmaceuticals (NASDAQ:GWPH): $3.0 billion, up 64% Canopy Growth Corp. With the exception of GW Pharmaceuticals, every one of the largest marijuana stocks has at least tripled in value over the trailing 12 months, with cannabinoid-based drug developer AXIM Biotechnologies skyrocketing more than 1,700%!

Top 5 Casino Stocks For 2018: Franco-Nevada Corporation(FNV)

Advisors’ Opinion:

  • [By Ben Levisohn]

Given revised commodity deck forecasts (particularly for Steel and Gold) and improved Balance Sheet health (Steels, Precious and Industrials Metals) we are upgrading our ratings on several stocks in our coverage. We generally favor companies that have already initiated specific self-help, have low-cost assets and are less exposed to China supply and demand dynamics. In Steels, we have increased our rating from Hold to Buy on Nucor (NUE) and from Sell to Hold on US Steel. We have also upgraded Kinross Gold (KGC) to a Hold on valuation…On higher-than-peer valuations, we reiterate Sell-rated Coeur Mining (CDE), Franco-Nevada (FNV), Goldcorp (GG), Teck Resources (TCK) and highly leveraged AK Steel given preference to issue further equity if possible.

Aggressive buyers of Delphi and BorgWarner following another drive by hit on the suppliers of technologies for internal combustion engines (ICE). While mild/full hybrids are needed to meet fuel efficiency targets beyond 2025, full EVs are unlikely to exceed 2-3% of global demand without a breakthrough in the cost of electrification. Importantly, technologies to electrify vehicles reside among the OEM auto suppliers, many of which also supply ICE; as a result, these suppliers actually benefit from electrificationthey are not threatened as some analysts [I think he means you, Jonas. ed.] suggest…

Best Stocks To Invest In Right Now: Square, Inc.(SQ)

Advisors’ Opinion:

  • [By Chris Lange]

Square Inc. (NYSE: SQ) is known as a payment processing service for small-to-medium business operations. In November, Square announced that it was letting a small amount of its Cash app users buy and sell bitcoin on its platform. While this is only took place in November, Square is up about 160% year to date with a heavy correlation to bitcoin. There is still much speculation about how bitcoin could integrate with Squares platform. Shares of Square were trading down 3% at $34.75, with a 52-week range of $13.53 to $49.56 and a consensus price target of $40.00.

Payment processors and banks that are allowing bitcoin exchange are also benefiting as first-movers in digital transactions. It’s likely that most payment processors will integrate some cryptocurrency capability eventually but the first-mover advantage for companies like Square (NYSE: SQ) should help it boost user growth over the next year.

Top 10 Value Stocks To Invest In Right Now

No one in modern financial history comes close to matching Warren Buffett’s record as an investor.

Hedge fund managers like John Paulson and Kenneth Griffin have had huge years along the way, and more conventional money managers such as Peter Lynch have turned in stellar performances as well, but none has performed at such a high level over such a long period of time as the Oracle of Omaha.

When Buffett took control ofBerkshire Hathaway(NYSE: BRK-A)(NYSE: BRK-B) in 1965, it was an ailing textile company with a bleak future. Today, thanks to Buffett’s brilliance at capital allocation, Berkshire is the fourth-biggest company in the S&P 500as measured by market capitalization.

The compound annual increase in Berkshire’s book value per share has averaged 19% since Buffett grabbed the reins. That’s nearly double the compound annual gain of the S&P 500, which comes out to 9.7% over the same 52-year stretch.

On the production side of things, XOM continues to dive head-first into natural gas production and shipping. Top 10 Value Stocks To Invest In Right Now: Costco Wholesale Corporation(COST)

Advisors’ Opinion:

  • [By Shanthi Rexaline]

Kroger Co (NYSE: KR) and Costco Wholesale Corporation (NASDAQ: COST) are among the other retailers that significantly benefit from SNAP.

Although estimates are not available, beverage giants such as PepsiCo, Inc. (NYSE: PEP), Dr Pepper Snapple Group Inc. (NYSE: DPS) and The Coca-Cola Co (NYSE: KO) also benefit from SNAP. When there was a move in 2011 to bring about restrictions on SNAP purchases, Pepsi reportedly spent $750,000 in the third quarter of 2011 on lobbying alone.

The next few trading days include highly anticipated earnings reports from some of the biggest names in their respective industries, including Berkshire Hathaway (NYSE:BRK-A) (NYSE:BRK-B), Costco (NASDAQ:COST), and Priceline (NASDAQ:PCLN).

  • [By Chris Lange]

Costco Wholesale Corp. (NASDAQ: COST) released fiscal first-quarter earnings report after markets closed on Wednesday. The company posted $1.24 in earnings per share (EPS) and $28.1 billion in revenue. The consensus estimates from Thomson Reuters called for $1.19 in EPS and $28.3 billion in revenue. The same period of last year reportedly had EPS of $1.09 and $27.22 billion in revenue.

  • [By Ben Levisohn]

When Costco Wholesale (COST) announced its fiscal first-quarter earnings in December, its shares rose 1.3%, despite initial disappointment. And next month, Costco will release its December sales, which should show whether that reaction was justified. Baird’s Peter Benedict and team offer a preview:

    Getty Images

Modeling December “core” comps (ex-gas/FX) of 2%-3% (reported comps also 2%-3% vs. Street’s initial 1.8%E), with the slight uptick from November’s 2% core supported by easier compares, stronger trends exiting/entering November/December, and more seasonable weather. Looking ahead to CY17, prospects for further improvement in underlying comp trends appear good as compares continue to ease and tobacco-related headwinds are cycled (in the spring). When combined with a potential U.S./Canadian fee increase (and perhaps even another special dividend), we reiterate our Outperform rating/$175 price target.

Shares of Costco Wholesale have ticked up 0.1% to $161.19 at 2:58 p.m. today.

Top 10 Value Stocks To Invest In Right Now: Nam Tai Electronics Inc.(NTE)

Advisors’ Opinion:

  • [By Roberto Pedone]

Another stock that’s starting to move within range of triggering a big breakout trade is Nam Tai Electronics (NTE), which is an electronics manufacturing and design services provider to a select group of the world’s leading OEMs of telecommunications and consumer electronic products. This stock has been destroyed by the sellers so far in 2013, with shares off sharply by 41%.

If you look at the chart for Nam Tai Electronics, you’ll notice that this stock has been uptrending for the last month and change, with shares moving higher from its low of $6.05 to its recent high of $8.38 a share. During that uptrend, shares of NTE have been making mostly higher lows and higher highs, which is bullish technical price action. That move has now pushed shares of NTE within range of triggering a big breakout trade.

Traders should now look for long-biased trades in NTE if it manages to break out above some key near-term overhead resistance levels at $8.38 to $8.79 a share with high volume. Look for a sustained move or close above those levels with volume that hits near or above its three-month average action of 647,483 shares. If that breakout triggers soon, then NTE will set up to re-fill some of its previous gap down zone from April that started near $11.50 a share. If this stock gets into that gap with volume, then the upside is tremendous and we could easily see NTE hit $11 to $12 a share.

Traders can look to buy NTE off any weakness to anticipate that breakout and simply use a stop that sits right below its 50-day at $7.42 a share, or below more key support at $7.22 a share. One can also buy NTE off strength once it takes out that breakout levels with volume and then simply use a stop that sits a comfortable percentage from your entry point.

Top 10 Value Stocks To Invest In Right Now: Alaska Air Group, Inc.(ALK)

Advisors’ Opinion:

  • [By Adam Levine-Weinberg]

It’s been clear from the beginning that Alaska Air’s (NYSE:ALK) acquisition of Virgin America was bad news for United Continental (NYSE:UAL). Alaska Air’s management viewed the deal as a springboard for growth in California — especially in the Bay Area. Meanwhile, United is the dominant airline in San Francisco.

  • [By Chris Lange]

The stock posting the largest daily percentage gain in the S&P 500 ahead of the close Wednesday was Alaska Air Group, Inc. (NYSE: ALK) which rose over 4% to $64.43. The stocks 52-week range is $61.10 to $101.43. Volume was2.4 million compared to its average volume of 1.8 million.

  • [By Paul Ausick]

The best airline, overall, was Alaska Air Group Inc. (NYSE: ALK). Other category winners were Spirit Airlines Co. (NASDAQ: SAVE), which was ranked cheapest; Alaska rated most reliable; JetBlue Airways Inc. (NASDAQ: JBLU) was most comfortable; best for pets was Alaska; and the airline receiving the fewest complaints was Southwest Airlines Co. (NYSE: LUV).

  • [By Adam Levine-Weinberg]

While Southwest Airlines achieved the best score overall, Alaska Air (NYSE:ALK) received top marks among traditional carriers. This was its 10th consecutive victory in the traditional carrier segment.

  • [By Adam Levine-Weinberg]

Last year, a potential solution appeared when Alaska Air (NYSE:ALK) acquired Virgin America, which is the only other commercial airline at Love Field, whereas Alaska Airlines flies to nearby Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport (DFW). It seemed plausible that Alaska would consolidate its Dallas-area operations at DFW, the region’s main airport.

Teck Resources (NYSE:TECK) performed exceptionally well in 2016, rising from the low single digits to the mid-$20s. I don’t think the stock will repeat that strong performance in 2017. However, I do think the stock will outperform the S&P 500 with strong double-digit gains. Teck Resources’ recent 20% pullback has the stock at an oversold level. The stock remains undervalued as compared to its peers and the broader market. The company has multiple catalysts that will drive the stock’s outperformance from this undervalued level.

Teck Resources is poised to benefit from an improving economy and from President-elect, Donald Trump’s plan to spend $1 trillion on U.S. infrastructure over a 10-year period. New construction starts are expected to increase 5% in 2017. That forecast was projected before the U.S. Presidential election. So, if Trump gets his infrastructure plan passed, we could see a higher percentage increase in construction spending. Teck Resources will benefit from its mining of copper, metallurgical coal and other minerals.

Top 5 Undervalued Stocks To Buy Right Now: NO Name(ACI)

Advisors’ Opinion:

Lawsuit after lawsuit, a billion dollars in cost overruns, taxpayer subsidies and the most expensive coal plant to operate causing electric rates to skyrocket, if this becomes the norm. The new project is called Plant Ratcliffe by Southern Co.
Plant Ratcliffe is quite the boondoggle, but proponents say it always costs more to build the first one and costs will come down as the technology improves. More plants are in the planning stages and may bring a needed shot in the arm to mining stocks.
Alpha Natural Resources (ANR), Walter Energy (WLT), Arch Coal (ACI), Cliffs Natural Resources (CLF), Peabody Energy (BTU), and James River Coal (JRCC) are companies that may benefit from increased demand for coal.
Not all coal or coal companies are equal, so it’s crucial to discriminate based on your investment time-horizon goals. With that said, the announcement should have been followed by a deep sell-off in coal and utility related stocks. But something happened.
    Or, rather, didn’t happen.
The above coal stocks didn’t sell off tremendously and are largely moving along with the rest of the market today. This is noteworthy because stocks don’t bottom on good news, they reach a bottom on awful news. Let me explain: When a stock chart continues trending lower, what you’re witnessing is investors throwing in the towel and moving on.
Leaving aside bankruptcies for a moment, almost all stocks have a core group of investors that are commonly known as the “strong hands.” A stock is at the bottom when the weak hands are gone. At some point, distressing news (like an unfavorable EPA announcement regarding coal) hits the wire and the related stock or stocks react with little or no movement. This is what we are witnessing right now in coal-related companies.
