Gold prices were little-changed in early in European trading after the bullion touched a five-month high in Asia as investors piled into safe-haven assets around the world amid rising geopolitical tensions. 

Spot gold was marked 0.01% lower at $1,274.30 per ounce in early London trading after reaching a five-month high of $1,279.80 in Asia dealing amid a retreat from risk assets such as stocks and corporate bonds.

As a result, the losses were huuuge.The S&P 500 fell 3.6% to 2,037.30, its largest drop since Aug. 24, 2015. The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 611.21 points, or 3.4%, to17399.86, its largest one-day percentage decline since Aug. 24, 2015. The Nasdaq Composite tumbled 4.1% to 4,707.98, its largest drop since Aug. 8, 2011.

On November 5, Oracle (NYSE:ORCL)confirmed that it has finally completed the acquisition of Netsuite (NYSE:N) for $9.3 billion in cash, or $109 per share that the company had initially offered. In my previous article about Oracle, I had suggested that the acquisition of NetSuite, the cloud business application software company, is a smart move by Oracle. What’s more, it is not paying an excessive price for the deal. In fact, Oracle insisted that it will not pay more than what it had first offered despite the resistance from T Rowe Price (NSDQ:TROW)which demanded $133 per share.
