The $475,000 price tag on Novartis AG’s latest breakthrough cancer therapy came under fire from one of the biggest managers of drug costs in the United States, underscoring the challenges the Swiss drugmaker will face in promoting the potential blockbuster.

The cost of the leukemia treatment, called Kymriah, is “dramatically higher” than other such complex treatments, and the health care system isn’t ready to pay for it, Steve Miller, chief medical officer at Express Scripts Holding Co., said Thursday in a blog post on his company’s website. Gene therapies like Novartis’s are targeted at a small number of patients and typically used just once, meaning that drug companies have limited chances to recoup their investment.

“Therein lies the challenge,” Miller wrote. “We need a new payment model.”

For example, I used finvizin the recent past to find a dynamic growth company called HealthEquity (NASDAQ:HQY). I quickly learned that HealthEquity’s revenue and earnings have compounded at 38% and 57%, respectively, over the last five years. Those numbers convinced me to dig deeper and I soon became so excited about the company’s prospects that I purchased shares for myself right away.

So where am I going to invest my capital? While I’m still refining my list, here are seven stocks that I currently own that I’m strongly considering adding to:

Hubspot (NYSE: HUBS) — A software-as-a-service provider that is pioneering the shift toward “inbound” marketing. HealthEquity (NASDAQ: HQY) — A fast-growing company focused on Health Savings Accounts that boasts three sources of recurring revenue. Axon Enterprise (NASDAQ: AAXN) — The leading provider ofTaser stun guns, law enforcement body cameras, and evidence-management software. Paycom Software (NYSE: PAYC) — A founder-ledpayroll-processor company that is gobbling up market share. Adobe Systems (NASDAQ: ADBE)– The company’s push to the cloud is drivingdouble-digitgains in revenue and profits. AppFolio (NASDAQ: APPF) — Asoftware-as-a-service provider focused on servicing business owners in severalniche markets. BlackLine (NASDAQ: BL) — A software company that is attempting to bring the accounting process into the 21st century.

All seven of these businesses are poised to deliver double-digit organic revenue and profit growth over the next five years. That’s a prospect I find quite enticing, and I think the odds are very favorable that they’ll outperform Apple as a group from here.

  • [By Peter Graham]

A long term performance chart shows shares of Hasbro, Inc largely trending upward while shares of peers like mid cap Mattel, Inc (NASDAQ: MAT) and small cap JAKKS Pacific, Inc (NASDAQ: JAKK) have largely trended downward:

  • [By Roberto Pedone]

One under-$10 toy player that’s trending very close to triggering a major breakout trade is Jakks Pacific (JAKK), which is a producer and marketer of children’s toys and other consumer products. This stock has been destroyed by the bears so far in 2013, with shares off sharply by 60%.

If you take a look at the chart for Jakks Pacific, you’ll notice that this stock has been downtrending badly for the last two months and change, with shares plunging from its high of $11.75 to its recent low of $4.82 a share. During that downtrend, shares of JAKK have been consistently making lower highs and lower lows, which is bearish technical price action. That said, shares of JAKK look like they might be ready to see an end to its downside volatility in the short-term if the recent lows can hold. I believe this due to the fact that JAKK has started to move sideways and trend within range of triggering a major breakout trade.

Traders should now look for long-biased trades in JAKK if it manages to break out above some near-term overhead resistance levels at $5.08 to $5.27 a share with high volume. Look for a sustained move or close above those levels with volume that hits near or above its three-month average action of 695,817 shares. If that breakout triggers soon, then JAKK will set up to re-test or possibly take out its next major overhead resistance levels at $5.68 to its 50-day moving average at $6.07 a share. Any high-volume move above its 50-day will then put $7 to $8 into range for shares of JAKK.

Traders can look to buy JAKK off weakness to anticipate that breakout and simply use a stop that sits right below some key near-term support levels at $4.87 to $4.82 a share. One can also buy JAKK off strength once it clears those breakout levels with volume and then simply use a stop that sits a comfortable percentage from your entry point.

It’s official: General Motors (NYSE:GM) will sell its long-troubled Opel subsidiary to French automaker Peugeot S.A. (NASDAQOTH:PUGOY) for about $2.3 billion, in a deal expected to close later this year.

  • [By Adam Levine-Weinberg]

Now, the General is thinking about ditching Europe for good by selling its European operations to French automaker Peugeot (NASDAQOTH:PUGOY). As long as Peugeot is willing to pay a reasonable price, selling Opel is GM’s best course of action.

  • [By SEEKINGALPHA.COM]

Yes, you read that correct! General Motors (NYSE: GM) will probably not settle for just a new 52-week high and will aim to take out the 2013 peak of $41.85. With talks about the Opel sellout to PSA Group (OTCPK:PEUGF) (OTCPK:PUGOY) progressing at a rate much faster than I had anticipated, a (likely) deal announcement on Monday will pave the way for new all-time highs.

The question of whether stock prices are driven by current events or whether these events only serve as bumps on a road that equities are already taking will be debated to eternity. What cannot be debated though is the regression to the mean. It always happens, no matter what the market conditions are and no matter what the longer term trends may be. Here are fivestocks that have skyrocketed since Donald Trumps victory, so much so that four of the five are already above their 12-month consensus estimates.

Some of these stocks had done nothing but rise and rise since the election. Now we have seen at least some selling come into play, and if not then some of the buying euphoria seems to have become more rational. To help support this notion: the Dow Jones Industrial Average was down almost 55 points to 18,868 on Wednesday. While that may be a small drop, there had been seven-straight days without the Dow closing down.

AECOM

Jack of all trades infrastructure firm AECOM (NYSE: ACM) closed at $27.88 the afternoon everyone thought it would be Clinton by a landslide. Since then, the stock has exploded by 35%. Runs like this for AECOM, while extreme, are not unheard of, as a long-term chart shows quite heavy volatility going back to 2007.

Deutsche Bank announced on Tuesday that it has upgraded Church & Dwight Co., Inc. (CHD).

The firm has raised its rating on CHD from “Hold” to “Buy,” and has increased the company’s price target from $64 to $66. This price target suggests an 8% upside from the stock’s current price of $60.36.

Analyst Bill Schmitz commented: “Sustainable growth algorithm of 3-4% organic sales, high single digit EBIT and double-digit EPS growth intact, with upside from fast growing Avid vitamin business joining the base and highly flexible balance sheet enabling further M&A or more aggressive cash flow redeployment providing upside to total shareholder return profile.

“With shares underperforming the group and market over the last year and tempered Street outlook for CY14 versus long-term trend, we see an opportunistic window to own the shares at a reasonable entry point.”

Church & Dwight shares were mostly flat during pre-market trading Tuesday. The stock is up 13% YTD.

Compass Diversified Holdings (CODI) seeks to invest in manufacturing, distribution, consumer products, and business services sectors.

One thing I like about Compass is its strict definitions of its acquisition strategy. They have a six-step process of identifying companies to acquire that reads simply, but has lead to astounding success.
