Top 10 Warren Buffett Stocks To Own Right Now

Given the extremely low valuation of Micron Technology (NASDAQ:MU) stock, if value investing legend Benjamin Graham was alive today, he would be buying MU stock by the boatload.

Trading at 3.7 times its trailing adjusted earnings per share, Micron stock is the third-cheapest S&P 500 company by this valuation metric and it has the lowest forward price-earnings ratio in the S&P 500.

Four months ago, MU stock was trading around $65, over 40% higher than its current price. Its cash return [defined as free cash flow plus net interest expense divided by enterprise value] is 15.5%. By comparison, Amazon.com’s (NASDAQ:AMZN) cash return, according to Morningstar, is 1.0%.

I’m not suggesting that MU is in the same league as Jeff Bezos and company, but it would be difficult to picture a situation that is better suited for a company to buy back its own shares, even though its business conditions.are deteriorating

Warren Buffett Loves Buybacks

“Many management (teams) are just deciding they’re gonna buy X billions (in stock) over X months. That’s no way to buy things. You buy (things) when (they’re) selling for less than they are worth,” Buffett told CNBC in 2015. “It’s not a complicated equation to figure out whether it is beneficial or not to repurchase shares,” he added.

Friday was mixed on Wall Street, with the Nasdaq Composite eking out minor gains even as most other major benchmarks finished down modestly. Market participants seemed largely content to see how things played out on the geopolitical front between the U.S. and North Korea, and key reversals in other financial markets helped send 10-year Treasury rates back below 3% and also resulted in a substantial drop in crude oil prices. Despite generally quiet conditions, bad news sent shares of certain companies lower. While not every growth fund manager is worth following there are several that I greatly respect and can be a wonderful source of stock ideas. Here are a few of my favorite growth investors to follow:

Pat Dorsey of Dorsey Asset Management: Dorsey was the director of equity research at Morningstar for more than a decade an authored two must-read books for growth investors: The Five Rules for Successful Stock Investing and The Little Book that Builds Wealth. Dorsey now runs his own asset management business and he makes concentrated bets in growth stocks that he believes will be able to compound shareholder wealth for years. Chuck Akre of Akre Capital Management: Akre ran the FBR Focus Fund from 1997 to 2009 and produced annualized returns of more than 12% during his tenure, which was far ahead of the 4.4% return of the S&P 500 over the same time frame. Akre launched his own mutual funds in 2009. His style is to buy growth stocks that are trading for value prices and he rarely sells. He also runs a concentrated portfolio. Carl Icahn of Icahn Capital Management: Long-term investors in Icahn’s publicly traded investment vehicle Icahn Enterprises (NASDAQ:IEP) has enjoyed market-beating returns. Icahn’s net worth has ballooned to more than $18 billion because of his knack for finding mispriced stocks. In recent years, he has become an activist investor who buys a meaningful position in a company and then shakes up its Board of Directors and management team in an effort to improve the business. While his fast-paced style isn’t for everybody, I always enjoy looking at his portfolio to see what he has been buying or selling recently.

There are also a plethora of websites out there that make easy to track and rank what notable growth investors are doing, including Whale Wisdom, TipRanks, and Guru Focus. Growth investors can visit any of these sites and quickly learn what many big-time money managers have been buying and selling in recent months to come up

Retail stocks are in focus after the U.S. Census Bureau released monthly sales figures before the bell Tuesday. The bureau said that retail sales increased by 0.3% in April, a figure that matched trade expectations. Markets had expected consumer spending to increase, however home improvement sales were not the major factor that most expected. This was evident from The Home Depot’s earnings report. Markets are increasingly optimistic over U.S. trade negotiations with China. Chinese President Xi Jinping’s No. 1 economic advisor will visit the United States this week to continue the nation’s dialogue with America. In addition, roughly 100 companies and trade associations will be sounding off to the Trump administration about the potential impact of tariffs in the Chinese markets.
Stocks to Watch Today: TSLA, AMZN, GS
Amazon.com Inc. (Nasdaq: AMZN) is in focus thanks to tax policy in Seattle. On Monday, the Seattle’s City Council passed a bill that will tax Amazon and 131 other companies $275 per employee each year in order to create a fund to address homelessness in the Seattle. The tax is half what was originally proposed and remains a contentious issue for Amazon, which is the city’s biggest employer. Goldman Sachs Group (NYSE: GS) is sounding the alarm about the state of the markets. The company warned that the U.S. budget deficit is increasing while America’s unemployment rate is falling. This hasn’t occurred since the World War II. The bank believes that the combination of the two could cause the Fed to spike interest rates in the near future. This comes at a time when the Fed has already lost control of interest rates. Look for additional earnings reports from Eagle Materials Inc. Top 10 Warren Buffett Stocks For 2018

The cost of providing health insurance to a companys employees grew nearly 7% last year, extending not only a long-standing streak of rising costs, but accelerating that trend. Indeed, between 2002 and 2016, the average amount of money a family of four spent on health care each year grew a whopping 180%.

Putting it bluntly: Regardless of whos paying the bill (and how), health care has become expensive.

Its not surprising, then, that corporations that are at least partially responsible for providing employees with health insurance are finally pushing back against an industry that has had little incentive to contain costs.

What is surprising is the collection of strange bedfellows that are uniting to stop unbridled health-care costs: Amazon.com (AMZN, $1,450.89), Warren Buffetts Berkshire Hathaway (BRK.B, $214.38) and mega-bank JPMorgan Chase (JPM, $115.67). The trio just announced a joint venture intended to check the rise in health costs while concurrently enhancing patient satisfaction and outcomes.

The stock market dealt with continued volatility on Tuesday, with investors uncertain how to react to a mix of earnings and geopolitical news. Throughout most of the day, market participants were trying to predict whether the Trump administration would move forward with its plans to withdraw the U.S. from the nuclear deal with Iran, and major benchmarks stayed in a relatively tight range with a downward bias during the morning and early afternoon. After the expected announcement, the Dow fell to a triple-digit loss late in the afternoon, but it recovered by the end of the session. Adding to the gloominess was bad news regarding some key individual stocks. DISH Network (NASDAQ:DISH), Gogo (NASDAQ:GOGO), and Hertz Global Holdings (NYSE:HTZ) were among the worst performers on the day. Here’s why they did so poorly.

Japanese trading company Itochu (OTCPK:ITOCY) has a tough act to follow – its own meaningful improvement over the past five years. The company was more willing than most of its Japanese trading peers to deemphasize commodity/resource businesses, and it moved fairly quickly here, building up non-resource businesses like its food, machinery, and finance operations. Those moves have led to better ROE and cash flow margin performance versus its peers, and Itochu shares have done well relative to peers like Mitsui (OTCPK:MITSY), Mitsubishi (OTCPK:MSBHY), Marubeni (OTCPK:MARUY), and Sumitomo (OTCPK:SSUMY) over that time.
