Best Medical Stocks To Watch Right Now: Energy Transfer Equity, L.P.(ETE)

Advisors’ Opinion:

  • [By Matthew DiLallo]

Management teams tend to be very coy about what they’re working on behind closed doors. Energy Transfer Equity’s (NYSE:ETE) leadership, on the other hand, was very transparent about what’s going on behind the scenes during the company’s first-quarter conference call. They openly answered analysts’ questions, which provided investors with an interesting glimpse into what’s ahead.

  • [By Matthew DiLallo]

Like last quarter, Energy Transfer Partners delivered strong earnings and cash flow growth. Because of that, the company was able to cover its jaw-dropping 12.4%-yielding distribution by a healthy 1.15 times. That slight decline from the year-ago quarter was caused by parent companyEnergy Transfer Equity (NYSE:ETE)significantly reducing its support. For a better comparison, the coverage ratio would have still been a solid 1.1 in this year’s first quarter without any assistance from Energy Transfer Equity, while it would have been a worrisome 0.98 in the year-ago period without the parent company’s help. That improvement isexactly what investors wanted to see this quarter.

  • [By Stephan Byrd]

D.A. Davidson & CO. reduced its stake in Energy Transfer Equity (NYSE:ETE) by 10.7% during the 1st quarter, according to the company in its most recent disclosure with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). The fund owned 46,328 shares of the pipeline company’s stock after selling 5,550 shares during the period. D.A. Davidson & CO.’s holdings in Energy Transfer Equity were worth $658,000 at the end of the most recent quarter.

  • [By Matthew DiLallo]

One reason investors are worried that Energy Transfer might need to reduce its distribution is that the company barely generates enough cash flow to support it without the help of its parent Energy Transfer Equity (NYSE:ETE). In 2017, Energy Transfer Partners produced $4.19 billion in distributable cash flow and would have paid out $4.15 billion to investors if it wasn’t for the fact that Energy Transfer Equity relinquished its rights to $656 million of that cash. While that support boosted the distribution coverage ratio from a tight 1.0 times to a more comfortable 1.2 times, it was only a temporary fix since Energy Transfer Equity’s support will diminish significantly in 2018 before declining further in 2019 and 2020.

Top 5 Undervalued Stocks To Watch For 2019

The shares of UnitedHealth (UNH) are currently undervalued when using optimistic estimates. However, even with slightly conservative estimates, the current share price could still provide a 9% annual return potential from this moment onwards.

A majority of investors are more likely interested in how the valuation and possible long-term return for a specific stock look like. Let us start with valuation first. I will not be delving into the current business situation of UnitedHealth as there are already plenty of excellent articles covering this topic. Personally, I prefer to keep my estimates as conservative as possible in order to avoid negative surprises. In the case of UnitedHealth, if we were to assume the historical 10-year annual revenue growth of 10.0% and free cash flow to sales ratio of 5.2% could be sustained in the future, we would arrive at a normalized free cash flow level worth $11,823 million. With the current amount of outstanding shares, this translates into roughly $12.4 per share. Just as a reference, the 20-year historical values for the annual revenue growth and FCF to sales have been 16.3% and 6.3%, respectively. For 2017, analysts are expecting free cash flow per share of around $10.25 per share, which is much more pessimistic than mine.

We rate MICHAELS COS INC as a Sell with a ratings score of D+. This is driven by some concerns, which we believe should have a greater impact than any strengths, and could make it more difficult for investors to achieve positive results compared to most of the stocks we cover. Among the areas we feel are negative, one of the most important has been weak operating cash flow.

  • [By Chris Lange]

Michaels Companies Inc. (NASDAQ: MIK) reported its fiscal third-quarter financial results before the markets opened on Thursday. The company said that it had $0.44 in earnings per share (EPS) and $1.24 billion in revenue. The consensus estimates from Thomson Reuters had called for $0.43 in EPS and revenue of $1.26 billion. The same period of last year reportedly had EPS of $0.40 and $1.23 billion in revenue.

  • [By JPMorgan]

MIK’s results over the past year point to the company’s success in improving merchandising, marketing, and in-store execution plus the benefits of having a functioning e-commerce website. We believe part of the challenge for the bears is both a lack of appreciation for the category as well as missing the historical context of how leadership has evolved. Indeed, the difference in focus on "the front end" under CEO Chuck Rubin (who arrived in 2013) vs. a more process-oriented and margin-focused CEO prior to his arrival left a lot of impactful, low hanging fruit opportunities. Finally, while we acknowledge that longer term the sustainable comp is lower than the recent ~4% underlying trend, we point to the low volatility of sales, high cash generative nature of the business, barriers to entry (e.g., high SKU density, low inventory turns, lack of brands), and MIK’s market leadership as reasons why the multiple has the potential to expand over time (a la AZO). Balance sheet de-levering should also make the PE look increasingly cheap over time and transfer cash/value to equity holders.

  • [By Jim Cramer]

42.37% is the gross profit margin for MICHAELS COS INC which we consider to be strong. Regardless of MIK’s high profit margin, it has managed to decrease from the same period last year. Despite the mixed results of the gross profit margin, the net profit margin of 6.57% trails the industry average.

MICHAELS COS INC has improved earnings per share by 19.4% in the most recent quarter compared to the same quarter a year ago. This year, the market expects an improvement in earnings ($1.70 versus $1.04).

Hot Energy Stocks To Own Right Now: BofI Holding Inc.(BOFI)

Advisors’ Opinion:

  • [By Jason Hall]

Internet bank holding companyBofI Holding, Inc.(NASDAQ:BOFI) reported financial and operating results on April 25 after market close, with net income of $41 million — the most-ever in a single quarter in its history. BofI delivered strong growth in net interest income, book value, loan originations, and a number of other key metrics.

  • [By Matthew Frankel]

    3. BofI Holding (NASDAQ:BOFI) is a more speculative choice, but one that deserves serious consideration. The bank, whose name stands for “Bank of Internet”, is the oldest internet-only bank in the U.S. By maintaining an online-based business model, the bank enjoys competitive advantage such as low overhead and the ability to offer better rates on loan and deposit products than peers.

  • [By Matthew Frankel]

Internet-based bank holding company BofI Holding (NASDAQ:BOFI) is not like most other banks. Since the name BofI stands for “Bank of Internet,” one thing that obviously makes the bank unique is its online-only business model. However, there are a lot of less-obvious things about BofI Holding that you might find interesting.

For the last three weeks, the term overbought has been frequently used to describe the overall market as well as many specific stocks. What does this really mean?

It has a dangerous sound, and that is indeed the common message. A stock, or a sector, or the overall market has rallied more than expected over an extended time. What does that mean for traders? Or for investors?

It is an excellent question for our experts.
