Top 5 Low Price Stocks To Buy Right Now

Q: The stock market seems to be reaching new record highs every day. Are there any stocks that still look cheap?

Corporate earnings have exhibited pretty impressive growth as a whole over the past few years, so the market’s performance is somewhat justified. However, many stocks do look to be rather expensive right now — particularly in the tech sector. Yet some bargains remain.

One of my favorite “cheap” stocks right now is AT&T (NYSE: T), even after shares popped following the company’s strong quarterly report. The telecom giant pays a dividend yielding more than 5% and is a Dividend Aristocrat, meaning that it has increased its dividend for more than 25 consecutive years.

Despite a low price-to-earnings multiple of just 13 times 2017’s expected earnings, AT&T has lots of room to grow, especially thanks to its purchase of DIRECTV and its pending acquisition of Time Warner, both of which should give it an advantage over the competition when it comes to bundling services and broadcasting content directly to smartphones and tablets.

Top 5 Low Price Stocks To Buy Right Now: Spirit Airlines Inc.(SAVE)

Advisors’ Opinion:

  • [By Adam Levine-Weinberg]

In the first few years after its 2011 IPO, Spirit Airlines (NYSE:SAVE) seemed practically invincible. The carrier used its rock-bottom cost structure to undercut traditional airlines’ fares, enabling it to quickly gain market share while producing industry-leading margins.

  • [By Shane Hupp]

Letko Brosseau & Associates Inc. lowered its position in Spirit Airlines Incorporated (NASDAQ:SAVE) by 0.8% in the first quarter, according to the company in its most recent Form 13F filing with the Securities & Exchange Commission. The firm owned 597,810 shares of the transportation company’s stock after selling 4,950 shares during the period. Letko Brosseau & Associates Inc. owned about 0.88% of Spirit Airlines worth $22,585,000 as of its most recent filing with the Securities & Exchange Commission.

  • [By Daniel B. Kline]

That Spirit (NYSE:SAVE) took the top spot should come as no surprise, as the company has been a leader in the a la carte flying model, charging  for everything from carry-on bags and seat assignments to soda and snacks. WOW, Frontier, Jet2.com, and Allegiant use similar models as do AirAsia X, HK Express, and Wizz Air. Australian flag carrier Qantas and global major United are more traditional full-fare airlines, but they still managed to crack the top 10 in ancillary revenue.

  • [By Adam Levine-Weinberg]

Last fall, Spirit Airlines (NYSE:SAVE) forecast that its adjusted nonfuel unit costs would decline 3%-5% year over year in 2018. This reflected the ultra-low-cost carrier’s dreadful cost performance during the second quarter of 2017, when a pilot dispute forced Spirit to cancel hundreds of flights. Adjusted nonfuel unit costs surged 10% year over year in that quarter.

The second-worst Dow Jones industrial average stock so far this year is Procter & Gamble Co. (NYSE: PG), which is down 14.6%. That is followed by Walmart Inc. (NYSE: WMT), down 12.2%, and DowDuPont Inc. (NYSE: DWDP) and Exxon Mobil Corp. (NYSE: XOM), both down 10.5%.

Exxon Mobil Corp. (NYSE: XOM), the country’s largest producer of natural gas, traded up about 0.5% at $82.05 in a 52-week range of $72.16 to $89.30.

  • [By Steve Symington, Leo Sun, and Reuben Gregg Brewer]

Once the largest company in the world, ExxonMobil (NYSE:XOM) has come under pressure, with falling oil prices and languishing production volumes. But patient investors can take some solace in knowing that while Exxon has ambitious plans to bolster production in the coming years, it will pay you a solid dividend yielding 4.1% annually at current prices while you wait.

  • [By Matthew DiLallo]

Oil giant ExxonMobil (NYSE:XOM) stumbled into 2018 after reporting lackluster results to end last year. Because of that, its stock endured its worst trading day since 2011 only to follow it up the very next one with a similar rout. While it’s started to recover, it’s still down 5% for the year even though oil has improved another 10%. As a matter of fact, Exxon is currently trading at a valuation not seen since the 1980s.

  • [By ]

Markets were mixed on Wednesday and then surged higher in afternoon trading, led by the energy sector as oil prices rose following President Trump’s withdrawal from the Iran nuclear deal. Exxon Mobile (XOM) and Chevron (CVX) led the way, and the Energy Select Sector SPDR Fund  (XLE)  posted solid gains.

Best Value Stocks To Own Right Now

In this episode of Motley Fool Answers, hosts Robert Brokamp and Alison Southwick want to focus on one question — but it’s a big one, especially for long-term investors: When should you sell a stock? To provide the answer, they’ve tapped Motley Fool Chief Investment Officer Andy Cross and Ron Gross, the advisor for Motley Fool Total Income.

In this segment, though, having covered the topic of selling in general, they tackle some questions from listeners. Among them: Is Tesla (NASDAQ: TSLA) overvalued? What was your worst “failure to sell” situation? And how has your investing style changed since you became a Fool?

A full transcript follows the video.

This video was recorded on Aug. 14, 2018.

Ron Gross: A lot of good questions have come in. I think we have some time to tackle some of them. This first one is going to be so painful, though. Painful is in the question. “Please describe a painful ‘failure to sell’ situation you found yourself in.” Any former investors in Horsehead Holding in this room?

Best Value Stocks To Own Right Now: Archrock, Inc.(AROC)

Advisors’ Opinion:

  • [By Tyler Crowe]

Oil and gas infrastructure specialist Archrock (NYSE:AROC) and its former subsidiary Archrock Partners were once a textbook case of an overaggressive business that got rocked by crashing oil and gas prices. The company bet heavily on the need for compression horsepower to force oil and gas from wells to pipelines, and took on considerable leverage to do so. When demand dried up from lower production volumes, Archrock was stuck with a fleet of inactive compression equipment and a massive debt load.

Hot Casino Stocks To Buy For 2019

Family and friends lend out about $89 billion in cash each year. More than a third of that total is used to help finance a new business while 6% of first-time home buyers get help from (usually) their parents. About a quarter of those loans were never paid back at all and more than 40% were only paid back partially.

The moral here is not to lend more than you can afford to lose. Sort of like playing poker or blackjack in a casino.

But what about lending your credit card to someone else, either a family member or good friend? How likely is that result in a bad outcome? According to a new survey of 2,253 U.S. adults by researchers at CreditCards.com, more than one-third of the time.

Nearly half (49%) of respondents who have ever owned a credit card admitted that they had lent the card to spouses, children, friends, co-workers or “other people” to make a purchase. More than a third (35%) experienced negative consequences.

Overspending by the card’s borrower hit 19% of the trusting souls, while 14% never got repaid and 10% reported that the card was lost, stolen or never returned. By extrapolation, the researchers estimate that 36 million Americans have been hurt by lending a credit card to someone else.

Deere & Company (NYSE: DE) on Friday became the latest big name to run into that particular buzz saw, missing Wall Street analysts’ average projection for earnings per share with a tally of $3.14 and seeing its shares fall in pre-market futures trading before jumping higher once the market actually opened. Analysts had expected $3.33, according to third-party consensus estimates. In a way, however, DE was a victim of high expectations, because its earnings were up a lot year-over-year but down vs. the Street’s consensus.

Top 5 Tech Stocks To Buy Right Now

After meeting with Gilead Sciences’ (GILD) President and incoming CEO John Milligan, UBS analyst Matthew Roden and team see a “re-energized” Gilead. They explain:

Earlier this week, we had the opportunity to host John Milligan, President and incoming CEO of Gilead, for a group dinner and other investor meetings. Topics of discussion were wide-ranging, and included corporate development, commercial, and pipeline… [We] walked away from the meetings seeing a re-energized Gilead that acknowledges investor concerns and wants to tackle challenges head-on.

The most important takeaways, in our view: *HCV can grow in 2016, contrary to current expectations; *China is a big opportunity for SOF/VEL (2017e launch); *Mgmt confident in the HIV outlook; *M&A urgency / aggressiveness has increased, but will return 75% of FCF to shareholders unless deals warrants flexibility; *Strategy on inflammation goes beyond filgotinib.

Shares of Gilead Sciences have dropped 1.4% to $86.61 at 11:08 a.m. today, while the iShares Nasdaq Biotechnology ETF (IBB) has tumbled 3.5% to $241.13.

Top 5 Tech Stocks To Buy Right Now: Corning Incorporated(GLW)

Advisors’ Opinion:

  • [By Peter Graham]

Back on December 5th of 2013, we added Corning (GLW) to our list around $16 and change. The stock ended up moving to a high of just over $25 per share early last year for roughly a 50% gain. Well, the stock has since come off again trading all the way back down to under $16 per share back in August of last year, before finding its way back up above $18 just yesterday. The context here is two-fold. First, the valuation metrics for GLW are once again suggesting another undervalued opportunity for a Company that is the clear leader in specialty glass and ceramics.

We believe 4K TV demand is ramping strongly, and management execution has been solid in our opinion. We also note the company’s focus on increased shareholder returns. Overall, we see the stock as undervalued on an ex-cash P/E basis despite growing EPS faster than peers.

  • [By Laurie Kulikowski]

GLW’s debt-to-equity ratio is very low at 0.20 and is currently below that of the industry average, implying that there has been very successful management of debt levels. Along with this, the company maintains a quick ratio of 3.30, which clearly demonstrates the ability to cover short-term cash needs.

Top 5 Tech Stocks To Buy Right Now: Liquidity Services Inc.(LQDT)

Advisors’ Opinion:

  • [By Jon C. Ogg]

Liquidity Services Inc. (NASDAQ: LQDT) was raised to Buy from Underperform, and the price target was raised up to $45 from $28.50, at Merrill Lynch.

  • [By Roberto Pedone]

Liquidity Service (LQDT) is an online auction marketplace for surplus and salvage assets. This stock closed up 14.9% at $34.44 in Monday’s trading session.

    Monday’s Volume: 1.60 million

    Three-Month Average Volume: 402,622

    Volume % Change: 336%

From a technical perspective, LQDT skyrocketed higher here right off its 50-day moving average of $30.94 with strong upside volume. This move briefly saw shares of LQDT trend back above its 200-day moving average at $34.60, before it closed just below that level at $34.44. Shares of LQDT are now quickly moving within range of triggering a big breakout trade. That trade will hit if LQDT manages to take out Monday’s intraday high of $35.21 and then once it clears some more near-term overhead resistance at $35.71 with high volume.

Traders should now look for long-biased trades in LQDT as long as it’s trending above $32.67 or above $31.60 and then once it sustains a move or close above those breakout levels with volume that hits near or above 402,622 shares. If we get that breakout soon, then LQDT will set up to re-test or possibly take out its next major overhead resistance levels at $38 to $40.90.
