Title: Online Business Manager

Original Salary: $35/hour

Current Salary: $65/hour

What was the situation when you decided to negotiate your rates?

Five years ago I had the itch for adventure: to travel, to live in a foreign country, and to try something new. I had been working in office administration for years and after taking some online marketing classes, I decided to leave my corporate job, move to Mexico, and do freelance online marketing for small businesses.

As I built my book of business I started my rates out low. I was trying to figure out what to offer, what I could do for people, and how to drum up business. I made tiny rate increases, but for the most part I made enough, so I didn’t think about making more.

One day I was chatting with a client and he shared with me their plans to launch a new product. He was just in the beginning stages and needed support with both the online marketing and overseeing the implementation. I thought he was going to ask me if I knew anyone who could help him, but instead he asked me if I thought I had the skills to help. I hesitated. I’d never done anything like that.

Unless you just woke up for a 2+ year sleep in a cryogenic chamber, you’re probably well aware that newly-elected President Trump is working to reduce the number of immigrants — temporary or permanent — allowed into the country. Feel free to argue the good or bad aspects of that effort, based on your political leanings. Just don’t get so caught up in the political argument that you end up ignoring the opportunity that’s surfacing because of the mission President Trump has no intention of failing. What’s that opportunity? Here’s a hint – Staffing 360 Solutions Inc. (NASDAQ:STAF) is a huge beneficiary.

The crux of the battle is the United States’ H-1B program, which grants foreign workers a Visa, allowing them to come into the United States to work. The technology sector is a notorious supporter of the H-1B program, as it allows them to hire hordes of qualified programmers, engineers, and computer people and pay those workers much less than they’d have to pay an American worker to perform the same function.

Though they all cite a lack of qualified American workers as the need for the H-1B program, Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) and Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN) are just two of the biggest fans of the programs, if their use of H-1B workers is any indication. Microsoft has laid off American workers while adding foreign H-1B employees to its ranks. Amazon.com also favors hiring foreign talent to perform much of its technological work.

With Trump working to drastically lower the number of work Visas it issues in any given year, the tech industry says it will lose access to qualified employees. Though neither company can say it, they’ll also lose access to lower-cost labor.

As was said, stand on either side of the fence you want. Just don’t look past what the impact of the new policy means for the aforementioned Staffing 360 Solutions…

….which is? Staffing 360 Solutions is an IT staffing firm, providing the qualified

First of all, when analyzing any investment, my first port of call is always to see if the stock has strong competitive advantages. Although, Amazon doesn’t pay a dividend, it definitely has huge assets within its arsenal that protect the stock from a huge sell-off to the downside. These advantages include but are not limited to the following.

    Competitive Advantage
    Why Is This Important

Low Cost operations In terms of scale (Although Amazon has intentions ofopening up brick and mortar stores for groceries), fulfillment centers and online ordering (Amazon’s model) is generally accepted as a cheaper alternative to scaling brick & mortar stores. The “fitting out” of a fulfillment center costs much less than a Super-center from Walmart (NYSE:WMT)for example. This enables Amazon scale its operations at a much faster rate than its competitors.
Network Effect The low prices translate into a network effect which attracts buyers, third party sellers and large merchants on mass. The synergy between these three different groups of people results in a huge array of products being available on the platform for sale. Investors should note that all groups are increasing meaningfully in numbers at present. Third party sellers are a huge cash cow for Amazon due to the margins involved. This “network effect” will only intensify in years to come.
Amazon Prime Amazon’s premium service is another huge competitive advantage the company has. Why? Because Amazon is constantly adding more value to the service by adding more products (either at a discounted price or completely free). Jeff Bezos’s vision here is to add massive value here in order to up-sell normal Amazon users into Prime. Again growth rates are re-accelerating with Prime having just launched in China recently.
Amazon Web Services Amazon has the biggest cloud computing service in the world by far and the margins in this segment are really impressive. In fact, AWS makes up
