Back in my early 20s, when I was broke and in student-loan and credit-card debt, I started to be able to save a little money. Practically microscopic amounts but it was something.

I was so terrified of losing even those few dollars that I thought I needed to make them as safe as possible. So instead of putting them into vehicles that might actually make me some money, I put my funds into a savings account not even a high-yield savings account and once I started to save slightly more, into the safest mutual fund I could find, an intermediate bond fund.

However, like most things with Blackberry, they are late to the party. Tesla (NSDQ:TSLA),Alphabet (NSDQ:GOOGL) , Alibaba (NYSE:BABA) and Baidu (NSDQ:BIDU) are deep into the development process of their self-driving car tech. Therefore, by the time Blackberry brings something compelling to the market, one or more of the aforementioned companies is likely to have already signed many of the lucrative deals.

Tesla Motors (TSLA) released its delivery numbers yesterday, and while the number of cars that reached consumers during the fourth quarter disappointed, investors haven’t seemed to mind: Tesla shares have jumped 4.7% to $227.20. Don’t count Barclays’ Brian Johnson and team, who reiterated their underweight rating, among the bulls. They offer four Tesla predictions for 2017 in the guise of potential Elon Musk tweets:

Great progress so far on Model 3, but still have a number of tweaks ahead thus will take a little longer than expected. We see high probability that Tesla will announce a Model 3 delay at some point (we assume 0 Model 3 deliveries in 17)…

Time to derisk with a capital raise. In our model we assume a $1.5bn equity raise in 1Q17…

Slowing the growth at SolarCity until regs more favorable. We expect Tesla to significantly reduce SolarCity growth until reg. and econ. conditions are more favorable…

We dont need EV subsidies, but we should get some $ for all the U.S. employment we create. With Elon now part of President-elect Trumps Strategic & Policy Forum, wouldnt it make sense for him to leverage Teslas position as the only automaker with effectively all of its manufacturing in the U.S.?

Johnson expects Tesla to be range bound in 2017, with a selloff at some point due to the Model 3 delay. For a more positive view, check out Baird’s Ben Kallo, who recommends buying the stock “ahead of the Model 3 production ramp.”

While Tesla’s (NASDAQ:TSLA) fourth-quarter earnings release a few weeks ago included a handful of nuggets for investors, including the company’s current financial situation and management’s guidance for vehicle sales and capital spending in the first half of the year, Tesla’s lengthy earnings call arguably boasted some of the most important updates on the company.

Tesla could be out of its mind: The electric automaker with the scorching hot stock price could be over-promising on its production goals, TheStreet reports. And it’s not just Tesla (TSLA) that could be over-promising, the entire electric car industry may be over-talking their books.
