Hot Penny Stocks To Watch Right Now


Norwegian Cruise Lines (NCLH) was up nearly 7% on Wednesday afternoon, following its fourth-quarter earnings report.

Norwegian said that it earned 56 cents a share, a penny ahead of analysts’ expectations. Revenue rose 8.5% to $1.13 billion, also squeaking past the $1.11 billion consensus estimate.

For the full year, Norwegian said it expects to earn between $3.75 and $3.85 a share, with a midpoint a penny above the $3.79 average analyst estimate. It’s first-quarter EPS guidance of 36 cents also came in ahead of the 34-cent consensus.

Instinet analyst Harry Curtiswrites that after recent missteps, it was “vital” for Norwegian’s forecast to meet expectations but not seem too optimistic, a balancing act he believes the company achieved.

He reiterated a Buy rating and $52 price target on the stock:

    NRG Energygained 4.5% to $12.85 today, while the S&P 500 advanced 0.2% to 2,262.53.

    In a note released on Dec. 15, Morgan Stanley’sStephen Byrd and team summarized the reasoning behind their overweight rating on NRG:

    NRG Energy (NRG, Overweight, $21 PT) FCF/Equity yield of ~35% and balanced upside from diversified market exposure, higher PJM capacity prices, fleet optimization, and debt reduction. NRG’s generation plus retail matching strategy is an underappreciated source of value, and provides stable cash flow despite current depressed power prices in Texas.

    NRG Energy’s market capitalization rose to $4.1 billion today from $3.8 billion yesterday. It reported a net loss of $6.4 billion on sales of $15 billion in 2015.

    NRG Energy was the Biggest Loser on Nov. 10, and the Hot Stock on Nov. 4.
