Two new educational programs for financial advisors were announced Tuesday with a focus on business growth and a compliance designation.

Angie Herbers, head of FourPointe Consulting, has launched Beyond U, an online educational platform for seminars focused on strategies to stimulate business growth. The platform will feature live online seminars, videos, tools and templates that address industry issues like leadership, corporate finance, operations, client services, human capital, management, sales and marketing.

Participating advisors also can join networking study groups, which will be led by a Beyond U trainer, who will facilitate discussions about industry best practices and training topics. As part of this launch, Alex Garcia, a recent graduate of Texas Tech University’s CFP program, has been appointed as chief strategist of Beyond U.

“In the last 16 years, I have seen an influx of young advisors taking over firms with little to no growth training,” said Beyond U founder and CEO Angie Herbers, a regular contributor to ThinkAdvisor, in a statement.

“There is a real need for industry training on how to take new or established businesses and continue to grow them in the modern marketplace,” Herbers explained. “With Beyond U, our mission is to address this demand by preserving and spreading knowledge and hands-on learning across the industry so that advisors can serve their clients and create a business that lasts in perpetuity.”

FINRA Program

Meanwhile, the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority and Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business have formed the FINRA Institute at Georgetown Certified Regulatory and Compliance Professional Program in Washington.

The CRCP program aims to educate participants in the foundation, theory and practical application of securities laws and regulation. Those successfully completing it will be designated Certified Regulatory and Compliance Professionals.

“We are excited to be working closely with Georgetown’s exceptional business and law school professors on our CRCP program,” said Chip Jones, senior vice president, FINRA Member Relations and Education, in a statement. “In particular, the Georgetown McDonough faculty’s deep knowledge of the securities industry and regulation, and their experience with executive education, make them a great fit for our compliance certification program.”

Overall, FINRA’s CRCP designation program is now in its 17th year and has more than 1,200 graduates.
