Small business optimism for the month of August showed a modest decline and also missed expectations. While economists were expecting the headline index to increase from 94.6 up to 94.8, it actually declined down to 94.4. As shown in the chart below, small business optimism remains below its average of 96.0 going back to 2000 and is well off of its current cycle high of 100.3 back in December 2014.

Pretium Resources Inc (NYSE: PVG) rose 11 percent to $10.50 in pre-market trading after declining 1.66 percent on Tuesday.
First Majestic Silver Corp (NYSE: AG) rose 9.3 percent to $8.90 in the pre-market trading session. First Majestic reported Q3 earnings of $0.07 per share on revenue of $79.3 million. Silver futures gained 2.2 percent to $18.77 an ounce.

After the financial crisis it has been able to pick up its operations and continue to create sustainable free cash flow and increasing profits. It might be that another similar shock to housing is not necessarily around the corner and therefore they could sustain this in the foreseeable future.
